Scrubbing Bubbles and Lemon Pledge Review

Since my clean freak days are out the window now being a mom.  I realize when I do take the time to clean it needs to be with products that work without much effort. I have tried to avoid harsh chemicals when I can but sometimes it seems things such as the bathtub will not get clean. I tried the Scrubbing Bubbles Mega Shower Foamer and was not impressed at all! It smelled really bad and I still hard to scrub the tub just as much as with organic cleaners. For me not worth the chemicals to use. But I really liked the Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gel. It was fun to use, odd but for me it was lol. I put two of them in the toilet just so I could use the mini wand dispenser twice! It actually works too! They are a little gel pack that with each flush it cleans the bowl. I do have to say for houses with little ones you will need a toilet lid lock since I am sure they can be pulled off the inside of the toilet.

I also test some Lemon Pledge. I have not used Lemon Pledge in over 10 years! Its something I really forgot about as a brand. The lemon smell brought back fond memories of my mom cleaning her beautiful hutch with all the picture frames on it. My sister and I would help sometimes but mainly watch. Lemon Pledge seems classic, however I did not like that it came in an aerosol can. Maybe they can make a spray bottle version.
I loved the smell of lemon! Its funny how a smell can be associated with the thought of clean.

We were also sent some new scents from Glade. I put the Crisp Waters plugin in the bathroom and it was pleasant. I have to have subtle scents or it gives me a migraine. The candle I placed in my office was Sparkle Spring. I did not light it though since I can smell it without using it. I am sure other people who do not get migraines would enjoy using it as a candle. It is a nice scent.

Dream Big Little Pig Book Review

Dream Big Little Pig was a very cute and enjoyable book. Very family friendly with the message. I read it to my son and he almost said "pig". I love trying to teach him new words as I read to him. I loved the message in this book about, of course, dreaming big. It reminded me of my childhood in the way that Poppy wanted to find something she was good at and her family could be proud of her. I tried tap dancing, ballet, gymnastics, girl scouts, softball, and even wanted to play a musical instrument. I enjoyed them all but none of them were my dream to do but I never gave up! Poppy tries various activities until she finds what she feels she is meant to do! Her family supports her in every activity she tried and continued to tell her to not give up. I thought the name of the city Poppy lives in is very cute, New Pork City!

This book is really cute with the colorful illustrations and the message. Most of us as adults also need to remember to Dream Big Little Pig! The author of this book is Kristi Yamaguchi, the super famous ice skater. I have watched her skate more times than I can count and have always admired her determination. A portion of the proceeds for sales for this cute book will got to the Always Dream Foundation and its early childhood literacy initiative.

You can buy this cute book from the authors website and the publisher, Source Books website.

Why I Changed The Blog

When I first started to blog it was a little outlet for me to share coupons and shopping deals with family and friends. It was a place I could talk to myself in a sense. But when I realized the vastness of the blogger world, the influence bloggers have on me and the world around them it made me rethink what I wanted to do with this little spot on the net I created. After finding other great blogs and the women behind them I was inspired to share my voice with other moms. I have also found it to be very mentally stimulating. As a mom sometimes being at home can be isolating when your spouse is at work or with the cost of gas you can't get out as much as you would like to. I have found so many woman who I now consider my friends. We talk about our kids, great deals, laugh about things that we do as parents and share in the fun of raising kids in this wild world. As I started to do reviews and giveaways I realized that they are essential to consumers since none of us have money to waste on things we are unsure of. I know for me I read other mom bloggers reviews before I buy something. I find them to be unbiased compared to most consumer reports or big companies reviews.

Once my blog had started to grow I wanted to share the experience with my family. I have a big very loving and supportive family. I consider myself a very lucky woman to have them support anything I do and are always my cheering team. I swear if I wanted to go to clown school and join the circus they would all be the first in line at my shows and finding me great deals on extra big shoes! But my whole family lives in a separate state than my husband and I do. This can be so not cool!! With this blog it has given us all a way to connect and work together on a project we all enjoy. At first I was not sure if they wanted to do blogging with me and if they could fit it into their schedules. As time has passed they all love it just as much as I do and can see how stimulating it can be to participate in the blog-o-sphere!

My older sister and my Mom are the other two mom bloggers that have been helping me over the last few months. My sister has two little boys and we love being able to see each others kids in the posts we make. My Mom is the main book reviewer for the blog but has also done some product reviews for us. I love that they have joined me and we can all blog together. We are planning to share more of our personal journey with everyone as we raise our kids, live our daily lives and find our paths in life. I feel like all of us in the world have our story to share to help one another connect and grow.

Our new name has many meanings. First of course since we are family its the Family Tree. The frugal part has always been a fun thing. To me frugal is not another word for cheap but a way to support our shopping fun. Frugal is to use coupons, find a great sale, to pass items down to each other (this is always a reason to buy good quality products) and to be selective on what you decide to spend your hard earned money on. Something I loved as a kid and have great memories from is yard sale hopping! Its a great way to be frugal and get really great stuff. I know I have a box marked yard sale that is full of unused and hardly used stuff that I do not need but refuse to throw out. I laughed the other day when an episode of Handy Mandy told his tools "Wake up its Sunday time to go yard sailing!" What ideas do you have to be more frugal?

I know my sister and mom are going to love meeting everyone in the blog world, sharing their stories and learning from all the other great bloggers out there. So please help me welcome them and show them the same awesomeness all of you have shown me! My sister is Sam and my mom is Nana and me,  Liz!

Blog Makeover by Creative Patience

We have officially changed our name and look. As I say and make myself laugh as I do, "the bees have headed to the trees!"  Our blog makeover by Creative Patience was awesome. Rachel, the designer, was super nice and easy to work with. I changed my mind on things and she was very understanding. Even at the last minute when she had already sent me the finished copies in a zip folder she still went back and changed some things then sent it again!

I had a vision in my head of what I wanted and sent her a detailed description of what it should look like. I was overwhelmed with joy when she sent me the first proof, it was totally what I had imagined. We tweaked a few things here and there and she added her artistic vision to my ideas and it turned out perfect!

Every detail of the redesign she made sure I liked. I definitely recommend her as a designer for not just a blog make over but even something simple like an event button or twitter background. She also works on graphics and print designs for businesses, website support for installations and website migration from blogger to word press. You can view her portfolio here. I recently found two blogs I now read that she designed.

Thank you so much Creative Patience for helping me make my blog AWESOME!!!

I LOVE MY BUTTON!

Today is the long-awaited release date for the Blu-ray and DVD of The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and  Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has now placed Dawn Treader ships in 3,000 supermarkets nationwide, including Kroger, Safeway and SuperValu. These displays occupy approximately 3 feet by 8 feet of floor space, are quite remarkable replicas of the Dawn Treader ship!

Have you seen one in a store near you yet?!?

I am excited this has finally came to DVD so I can get my husband to watch it with me! Its focused on Edmund and Lucy in this one more and its great. They have an annoying cousin who tags along and through the movie you will learn to love the annoying one lol! We are going to check a our local Safeway this weekend to see if it is in a store near us. I am sure my son would want to say Hi and wave to him. He is really into waving to everything its so cute. It would make a really fun playhouse when the promotion was over too! I might have to look into that.

My Birdie has turned into a Bubba!

Since my son was a tiny little newborn I have called him Birdie. He would make a sweet cute face at me like a hungry little bird. I LOVED it! Plus my husband and I both love golf so it has a double meaning for us. He is still a sweetheart but has some how turned into a "bubba". Its what we call him all the time now. I am not sure when it started. I think its his ruggedness, his big chubby feet, and his happy go lucky attitude, he has a thing with waving at everyone now its really sweet, and its the way he looks in a pair of overalls! Hes my Bubba!

The funniest part is he has called himself Bubba a several times in the last month. When he sees himself in a mirror he waves and says bubba! Yesterday he saw his reflection in the car window when we were returning from grocery shopping. He smiled really big, pointed and yelled BUBBA! So it is official he thinks hes Bubba now! I think it is really sweet and I love my Bubba!

What are some of the cute nicknames your kids or even you have had over the years?

I have an embarrassing one that involves me wearing a green shirt, dark forest green pants and green plaid shoes to school one day lol. Plus I can make an awesome ribbit sound! My son thinks its hilarious!

Summary: Return to the magic and wonder of C.S. Lewis’ epic world in this third installment of the beloved The Chronicles of Narnia fantasy-adventure series when THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER sails into Blu-ray and DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on April 8th. Imagination comes to life with stunning special effects that bring the vast oceans and sprawling landscapes to life.  The release comes just in time for Easter, making the family favorite a perfect gift for kids of all age.

Top 10 Feel-Good Fantasy Films

Fantasy films are filled with supernatural beings, sorcery, mystical journeys, and magical worlds where anything is possible.  To celebrate the release of Chronicles of Narnia:  Voyage of The Dawn Treader out on Blu-ray and DVD April 8th, here are our top ten awe inspiring, fantasy films that are filled with epic adventures and offer an ideal escape from reality for the young, or just the young at heart:

Chronicles of Narnia:  Voyage of the Dawn Treader
King Caspian along with Lucy, Edmund and Eustace travel on an epic journey across the sea to the edge of the world, and encounter dragons, merfolk, dragons and more!  Lessons of humility and gratitude make this a perfect movie that arrives just in time for Easter.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Jack Skellington wants some variety in his world and decides to bring Christmas to Halloweentown, no matter what the cost.  As dark as this film seems on the surface, it brings out the warm fuzzies in most everyone.

Donnie Darko
Every Jake Gyllenhaal fan wants to watch him in this cult-role as a troubled teen pining after Jena Malone.  Who doesn’t love time traveling and watching this hottie figure out the secrets of the universe and engage in some of the most out-of-touch conversations with a creepy bunny rabbit man.

Edward Scissorhands
Winona, Johnny, Vincent, Tim…the perfect combo.  With bright and colorful homes and people, fantastical ice sculptures, and the angst-ridden hope that forbidden love brings – this one just cuts out a heart on our sleeve.

The Princess Bride
This cinematic classic is a wonderful fairy tale where true love ultimately prevails.  Giants, pirates, Princess Buttercup, adventure and intrigue – you will be quoting lines for years to come.  “As youuuu wishhhhh!!”

Willow
Enter the little world of dwarves, and follow Willow on his magical quest to save the baby princess he loves as his own.  The evil queen is definitely enchanting and will keep you in her clutches throughout the entire movie.

The Wizard of Oz
Follow the yellow-brick road to find a Wizard in an Emerald City who has all the answers and knows the way back home.  Judy Garland’s beauty and timelessness warms any tin man’s heart.

Labyrinth
Jim Henson’s masterpiece features the very colorful and charismatic David Bowie, and a young Jennifer Connelly who wishes her baby brother would disappear.  When her wish comes true and the Goblin King steals him away, she must brave the labyrinth and rescue him before he becomes a goblin himself!

Legend
Tom Cruise plays a forest dweller that must face a powerful demon, save unicorns, a fairy princess and hold on to innocence before all is lost in his world.

The Never Ending Story
Escape the troubles of life and fly on Falcor’s back to Fantasia.  Bastian reads the NeverEnding Story and realizes he has more power than he thought and ultimately becomes a hero in his own right!

After looking over this list I have seen 8 of them and a few are some of my top favorite movies. The Never Ending Story and Labyrinth I LOVED as a kid and have seen  hundreds of times. Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas are awesome. Willow and The Princess Bride were great I remember those ones too! Of course who doesn't love Wizard of Oz. I went to see Chronicles of Narnia:  Voyage of The Dawn Treader by myself and loved it just as much as the other Narnia movies. I look forward to it coming out on DVD to share it with my husband and son! The other two movies I have not seen but are now on my list of movies to watch. Oddly they are the ones that have huge starts like Tom Cruise and Jake Gyllenhaal. I recently watched the new Jake Gyllenhaal movie Source Code and WOW so cool. I will not say anything more as to not spoil it for anyone.

To stay up to date with the great movies coming out by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment you can follow them on Twitter @FoxHomeEnt/

Conair Infiniti Pro Hair Dryer and Conair You Style 2 in 1 Brush Review and Giveaway

On my mission for my "Mommy Makeover" I knew I needed a new Hair Dryer. The last one I purchased was one of those blow dryers you get at a good price during the holidays at a discount store. Bad idea! I have to throw my old one in the trash because it sounds like a jet plane when I turn it on and the cord plug part gets hot for as long as it take me to dry my thick hair.

No more of that hair dryer nonsense since I have tried the Conair Infiniti Pro Hair Dryer. Not only did I love the color of the dryer I LOVE how normal it sounded. It wasn't blaring loud and I could still think and carry on a conversation while I used it. It is very easy to store since it has a twist and turn handle that made it very compact. I loved that I could fold it up, put it in the carry case and put it away out of view. My older one was huge and always in the way! I liked how lightweight it is and the settings worked great on my hair. It even has a cold blast feature for when you are trying to get a hair style to set after heating it. In the winter I usually blow dry my sons hair on low from afar to keep him from have wet hair before bed and with the Conair Infiniti he could care less that it was on since it was not loud like our last one.

It thoroughly dried my hair without cause a bunch of frizz and giving me the "lions mane" as we call it like the older dryer I had. I was very pleased with everything about this hair dryer. Its also "World's 1st twist folding handle AC motor dryer". So cool that it can do that!

I also reviewed the Conair You Style 2 in 1 brush. My first reaction was it does what? Then after I opened it and used it I was in love with it! It really made a big difference in straightening my hair as I blow dried it. It has a combination of soft and hard bristles that made it  perfect to brush but not make it frizzy. I wish I had one of these when I was kid since I often referred to the hard bristles brush in the house as the "wicked brush". If you have kids who hate their hair brushed but need a hard bristle brush to detangle their hair this combo brush of soft and hard bristles works well without being rough on them. The 2 in 1 part of the brush is how with a slide of a button you can fold it on both sides making it a round brush to give your hair curls and waves. Its so much easier than having to have two brushes to style you hair. I tossed out my old brush and now only use this one for regular brushing and to blow dry my hair.

Avanti Wet-Dry Nano-Titanium Ceramic Silver Digital Flat Iron Review

As most of you know recently I got a hair make over. It really has change my out look on life. I feel better about how I look and it reflects on how I act. I have always had frizzy curly/wavy hair and it drives me nuts! I won a flat iron and was able to sort of mimic the look the hair stylist gave me. But it just wasn't the same. It was still poofy and not as straight as she made it. I was so sad that I only looked like, as we call it in our house, the "hot" me for a few days until I washed my hair and I was back in frizz land! I was defeated by the fact that I could not get my hair as straight and smooth as I knew it had the potential to.

After some research I realized I could not get the salon look because I did not have the salon tools. Although  I had a nice gold plated flat iron it did not have the technology or heating capabilities of the professional tools. When I found the website Flat Iron Experts it was my moment when I knew I will be "hot" me again soon!   I looked at all the flat irons available and there are so many great ones. I found the Avanti Wet-Dry Nano-Titanium Ceramic Silver Digital Flat Iron. It is perfect for me since as a mom there are times when I don't have time to blow dry my hair and other times when I cannot turn on a hair dryer or I will wake up my sleeping little boy.

The first thing I liked about the Avanti Flat Iron was turning it on. You had to hold in the button for a few seconds until it lit up and make a little happy noise letting you know it was on and beginning to warm up. The digital read out lets you know exactly how warm the flat iron will be. The last one I had was a dial and I had only a guess of what temperature it was set at. It warmed up in 30 seconds! I was very impressed with the flat iron and I had not even used it yet!

For me knowing I have thick course hair I knew I needed one that could give me the higher heating temperatures to get my hair flat. The Avanti flat iron can go as high as 450 degrees opposed to the other flat iron that could only heat to 350 degrees. I know that is a reason that the Avanti worked better because it could get enough heat to flatten my hair.

Tears of joy is the only way to explain what happened next! I have no skill when it comes to doing my hair but just the first section of my hair I straightened I was so excited! It was flat, smooth and just like it looked in the salon. I got more excited as each section of my hair I straightened.  After getting the under section of my hair straightened I moved onto the top section of my hair. I instantly knew I was on my way to looking like I did when I left the salon. I straightened the front part of my hair and began to feel emotional. It was actually flat and smooth. If you have suffered with frizzy poofy hair for as long as I have I am sure you can relate!

When I was done with my hair I stood there and just stared at my hair for a few minutes. I was so impressed that it looked exactly as it did the day I first had it done. I called my husband into the bathroom and his first comment was "Wow"! He was shocked it looked perfect and did not take very much time. With the gold plated flat iron I used before it would take over a hour and still look frizzy. I started to cry knowing I did not have to constantly think there was no way I could have straight smooth hair like the salon gave me. It was causing me a lot of stress and now I know it was the tool I was using and not me!

I definitely recommend the Avanti Wet-Dry Nano-Titanium Ceramic Silver Digital Flat Iron to any woman who struggles with frizz or other styling tools that can't get you the salon look you want. It is a great investment in your hair and hair happiness!

A little information from the Flat Iron Experts website about the Titanium Ceramic Technology:

Avanti WD-AVCROC distributes heat evenly across the entire surface, retains heat more efficiently, and eliminates damaging hot spots. Ceramic emits a natural source of negative ions and far infrared heat that helps your hair
1. Preserve more moisture within the hair shaft
2. Eliminates frizz and close the cuticle to create smooth and shiny hair
3. Causes less damage to the hair cuticle during styling

If you would like more information on Flat Iron Experts and the products they carry you can follow them on Facebook. They are also having a Facebook promotion this month to donate $5 to the relief efforts in Japan for everyone that uploads a pic of themselves holding a sign that says Help Japan.

Being a Mom Blogger means I get to meet great woman from all over the USA that I would not normally have gotten to know. There is one blog mom who has a super cute blog and a little guy who is around my sons age. We live on compete opposite ends of the USA but I am sure if we lived close by we could take our boys to play trains at the book store and have a blast. She has applied for a grant from Mom Central to help expand her ideas for promoting the love of  literacy. Reading books is very dear to me. My mom is the reason I LOVE books. I want to help Julie from A Year With Mom and Dad get the votes she needs in order to make her plans happen.

Amy Adele Birthday Sale Super Cute Personalized Items

I really do love Amy Adele for personalized items. They have cute and sweet designs that you can customize. For my sons first birthday we had two shirts made for him. One was for his big day at the zoo. It had a cupcake on it and happy birthday and his name. The other one was of his nickname and two cute birds on a branch. We are planning on getting more of theses and definitely a tradition for his birthday to have a personalized shirt. When ever I see his little shirt I hug it and get all emotional thinking about the day. I plan to one day make him a blanket out of all his shirts from Amy Adele. My nephews birthday is coming soon and I really want to get him his own bday shirt!

Poser My life In Twenty Three Yoga Poses by Claire Dederer Book Review

Poser My life In Twenty Three Yoga Poses, by Claire Dederer

This book is Claire Dederer's memoir about motherhood, marriage and her journey through the world of yoga. Ten years ago Dederer was a new mom living in a hip Seattle neighborhood. She finds out that in this particular neighborhood, parenting is elevated to a fine art. Organic baby food, attachment parenting, cloth diapers, and always letting your child sleep in your bed with you, are just some of the rules that must be followed. When she injures her back while breastfeeding her heavy baby, yoga is recommended by all.

From the very first class she falls in love with yoga. It becomes a path, a challenge, and a way to cope with the increasing difficulties of her stressed out life. Eventually yoga opens the door for Dederer to begin examining and questioning her past and present life. The story goes back and forth between her childhood in Seattle and now. Her own mother's story is a large part of the book, and is quite revealing. Dederer still has disturbing feelings from childhood about her parents unusual break-up and patched together new family.

Dederer's writing is honest, heartfelt, and sometimes painfully funny. Her struggles with marriage, family, in-laws and career are topics we can all relate to. This really isn't a how to book about learning or practicing yoga. It's more about using yoga to help guide the author through her life. In the end it sets her free to walk her own path and live her own truths. I found this book to be charming and quite interesting.

I also practice yoga and maybe that is one of the reasons why I like this book so much. I also felt that Dederer is the kind of person that you could call up and invite to the local cafe for a cup of coffee. She would most likely say yes, showing up, of course, in her yoga pants.

You can buy a copy of this book from Macmillan Publishing or other online stores such as Books A Million.

Wholly Guacamole and Biggest Loser Buddy Up and Win Contest

The bloggers of The Coupon Queen Bee are definitely Wholly Guacamole fans! All three of us love the guacamole and we are dip fanatics. We love the slogan of Get Off The Ranch. The Biggest Loser tv show does as well! They have teamed up with Wholly Guacamole for a awesome contest called "Buddy Up and Win". I watch the tv show all the time and it really has inspired me to be my own Biggest Loser. I have declared that I will lose 30 lbs before my 30th birthday in 3 months.

The Buddy Up and Win Contest has a grand prize to win a trip to the Biggest Loser Resort in Malibu CA along with other winners who will get Wholly Guacamole products. I would love to win some of the 100 Calorie packs! I tend to get a bit crazy with my Wholly Guac and these would help me control the portion.

Go to eatwholly.com/thebiggestloser and, in 200 words or less, tell them how you and your Battle Buddy inspire and support each other in your weight loss journey.

They're giving away tons of prizes including a trip for 2 to attend  The Biggest Loser: Couples season finale, a trip for 2 for a week's stay at The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge Malibu® and airfare allowance!  And don't forget to watch The Biggest Loser: Couples, Tuesdays 8/7c!
