Be My Valentine Gourmet Gift Baskets Review and Giveaway

Be My Valentine Gift Basket

The one thing I love about Valentine's Day is all the goodies!! I remember as a kid all the great treats we would get at school. My mom always made cupcakes or cookies too. It makes sense, sweets for your sweets! As a grown up now I am way more picky about the treats I will eat. It has to be quality goodies and rich in flavors. When my Be My Valentine basket arrived from Gourmet Gift Baskets I literally jumped for joy. My husband laughed a bit and handed me the scissors to open it. I felt like a kid in my own candy store there were so many great treats in the basket. I first seen the Almond Roca, its one of my favorites so that was awesome. As I opened the basket I discovered treats I have never heard of. That is the great thing about a basket like this, the surprise treats you get that you might have not picked if you were buying them individually.

Everything tasted so fresh!

These were new to me and sooo good! My husband claimed the nut bar and me the toffee!

I LOVED the Cherry flavor of the Nutorious and the Bing Cherries were heavenly

I say forget jewelry and get your sweet heart a basket full of goodies the whole family can share. That is if you want to share!! A few other baskets I would love to have are the Toadlly Yours, with a cute stuffed frog in it and the Wild About You, with a cute stuffed monkey.

He seems to like all things raspberry!

This Dark Chocolate bar was perfect. It snapped when it broke and melted in my mouth. This one I would not share!

My favorite goodie and my son's was the Chocolate wafers! We devoured those in like 30 minutes! Normally my son isn't really all that excited about chocolate but these he tried to take the whole box from me! I have to find more of these soon.

Nu Skin Epoch Body Care Products Review

As a new mom I tend to neglect my skin more than anything. Before my son as born I took extra good care of my skin, feet and face. I would daily use a scrubbing soap, weekly do a face mask and feet therapy. That all went out the window between bottles, diapers and housework. Thankfully I had the opportunity to review the Epoch line of skin care products that are a good quality. I liked that none of the products had a strong scent.
Epoch is a line of Nu Skin products that have beneficial botanicals derived from renewable sources. I enjoyed the variety of products that were available in this line of skin care. I definitely had favorites.

The Glacial Marine Mud Mask includes zinc and sea botanical that draws out impurities, removes dead skin cells and leaves your skin super soft.

The Baobab Body Butter is luxurious. It is a smooth applying body butter that has Shea Butter and fruit from the African Baobab Tree. I loved how soft this made my body feel even at the end of the day.

The Sole Solution Foot Treatment was totally what my feet needed. I put some of this product on my feet after a shower then put on some socks. I was amazed how rehydrate they were. The product contains allspice berries that Central Americans have been using to help relieve dry cracked skin on feet and toes.

The Epoch line also has baby products. I used the Epoch Baby Hibiscus Hair and Body Wash on my son. I liked the light scent and it washed his hair thoroughly. I liked the sort of foamy consistency of the wash. It made it easier to get out enough but not too much of the product. The site says that Hibiscus flower extract helps maintain and moisturize a healthy scalp. I have noticed my sons scalp a little less dry than usual after repeated uses of the wash.

You can see the full line of Nu Skin and Epoch products on their website. The site also has a very helpful glossary of terms. I think this would be helpful for not only their products but for a quick reference on any beauty products so you can look up the definition of an ingredient.

Snuggle Puppy & Origami On The Go Book Review and Giveaway

I LOVE to read to my son. As most of my readers know I am book obsessed! But its a good thing and my son loves books just as much as me. I get the occasional book thrown at me but its sweet in a way because its his way of telling me hey pay attention and read to me! Well at least its my interpretation lol

For Valentine's Day we reviewed Snuggle Puppy by Sandra Boynton. I have to say this is one of the cutest books about expressing your love to your little one I have read so far. Its very sweet and simple with a catchy tune. The book shows a Mama puppy telling her little pup how she feels about him in a song. I have been singing it all week to my son and in my head. Its so very cute. Part of it goes "I love what you are, I love what you do, Snuggle Puppy I love you!!" The book has you sing it low then shout it as loud as you can. I simply adore it! My little guy laughs when I sing it really loud, I think partly because I act out part of it by putting my hand on my heart when I say "love" and pointing to him when I say "you". Just last night I sang it to him as I rocked him to sleep. This book is perfect for Valentine's Day for the little one you love in your life.

My Snuggle Puppy!

The other book we reviewed is Origami On The Go! I feel like this year paper is going to be a crafty low tech type of fun for families. The book comes with papers to make the animals and objects. The papers have really nice print on them. Some are giraffe pattern, peacock feathers and solid colors.  It also included stickers for eyes and mouths. The fun thing is once you learn to make the project you can use just about any paper you find. The dollar store often times has construction paper that you can use and with crayons you can draw on funny faces or other details.
I had a blast making the fortune teller. I remember making them as a kid and playing with them. I put sweet sayings in it like "Love you", "Your so handsome" and "Your so smart" that way I could play it with my little guy. We took this book in the car so we don't have pictures but I must say it came in handy. We were at the doctors office for a long wait and my son became very irritated. I took out the book picked a project and he quickly was distracted by me folding the paper and then showing him the character I had made. I made him the Greek Fish and pretended it was swimming around him. He giggled then grabbed it and kinda of smashed it. That seems to be his form of joy, to smash the things I make, its fine with me because its just paper!

Thomas 110 Calorie Thin Bagels Review

I am definitely a breakfast person. I have to have a cup of coffee followed by a carb and some fruit. I usually have a bagel with cream cheese or toast and fruit. Sometimes though the bagel is so big I end up stuffed before I finish. I hate to waste anything let alone food. Since having the opportunity to try Thomas 110 Calorie Thin Bagels I can say I will never waste a bagel again. They of course are less calories than a normal bagel but I am not much of a calorie counter. For me I liked that they are thinner and can be used more like a sandwich bread. I had them with cream cheese, with peanut butter and put ham and cheese in them for lunch.
My son loved them too! He usually does not eat a whole bagel and I have to save the other half. With the thin bagels he eats the whole thing. He likes them plain or with a small amount of peanut butter. When I give him peanut butter he always seems to wipe it into his hair. Strange I know but he is a little character. My toaster was invaded by ants so I put these in the oven to toast them and since they are thinner than regular bagels they toasted up quickly and we very tasty warm with honey and butter on them. As I type this I am warming one up right now with pasta sauce and cheese for me and my little guy for lunch.

I recommend the Thomas 110 Calorie Thin Bagels for anyone who wants a quick snack, a lighter breakfast, or a nice alternative to sandwich bread.

** I am a Bzz Agent and received a coupon for free to try Thomas 110 Calorie Thin Bagels.

Mommy & Daddy Hugs & Kisses Boxed Set Book Review

My family is filled with book lovers. In my house I try my best to make sure I read my son one book a day. Often times he will bring me the book he wants me to read, its so sweet! For Valentine's Day I wanted to review books about loving your kids. This book set is so sweet. Mommy & Daddy Hugs & Kisses is a set of four books by Anne Gutman and illustrated by Georg Hallensleben. I have seen the individual books at the book store and have always wanted to buy them but this is the first time I have seen them as a set.

The set of 4 Board Books includes:
Mommy Loves
Mommy Hugs
Daddy Kisses
Daddy Cuddles

My son loved the colorful illustrations. He adores animals so these books were perfect for him. I loved them for how sweet they are. I love hugs and kisses from my little guy and these books allowed me to act out what the books said. When it said "Mommy Elephant hugs her calf with a squeeze" I would give my little guy a squeeze and he giggled. "Mommy Cat hugs her kitten with a nuzzle" I gave him a nose rub from mine to his and he smiled so big. My son in the last few months has been more affectionate and I adore it. With these books it is a cute little reminder that all creatures need love and show it in their own way.
Another great part is the book set included 2 Mommy books and also 2 Daddy books. My husband had a wonderful time reading to our son about Daddy animals hugging and kissing their little ones. He said it was sweet to have our boy sit quietly and smile as he read to him. It seems books are the one thing that mellows out our wild boy. I am sure he inherited that from his Nana!

This book set would make a great Valentine's Day gift for any little one and expecting parent.

You can find this adorable book set for sale at the publishers website Chronicle Books as well as Target and Barnes&Noble.

**This review is my own opinion. I was not paid for this review. The publisher provided for free one box set of the books mentioned in this review for this post.

Bambino Balls Clothing for Kids Review and Giveaway

The one thing I never could have imagined is watching football on Sundays. I know that sounds crazy but in our house we have never been football fans, until our son was born! My husband and I have been transformed by our son. He oddly LOVES football. He calls is "foos fa". Anytime he sees football on tv he gets super excited and waves his little arms all around. When he was about 9 months old we bought him his first football. My husband insisted it must be a real football. Not a colorful one, not a tiny soft baby one, but a classic ball that was just the right size for our little man. Since that day my son has had a rocket arm that he aims and throws with a crazy accuracy. I have been hit more times than I can count when not paying attention.

While I was surfing the web one night I stumbled upon the cutest onesie, Bambino Balls brand! I knew we had to have the Football one!!! When it arrived my husband was just as jazzed as me! I tend to be a animal and cute sayings shirts for my little guy and finally this was a shirt my husband loved. The nice thing about the brand is it was founded by a sports loving dad. My little guy is definitely wearing his for the Super Bowl!!
They carry 9 different sport themed shirts. There is football, soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, water polo, volleyball, golf and hockey. I would love to have the golf one too! The shirts come in Newborn (0-3 months), Small (3-6 months), Medium (6-12 months) and Large (12-18) months.

The football shirt is so cute! It has the football treads up the middle just like a real ball. When I first put it on him he took off like a wild animal. I think he knew it was a football because he was running around like when we play. After I captured him back and put on his jeans he started to play. Talk about melting my heart it was super adorable. My little football player dressed like a football was picture perfect. My husband wants us to get his pictures taken in the outfit for Valentine's Day.
I totally recommend these adorable shirts as a gift for any dad or grandpa who is expecting or already has a little one. Just don't call them adorable lol. My husband said they are manly shirts lol. I am a bit of a dork and would soooo love if there was a matching adult shirt for his dad to wear so they could be "Foos Fa" tshirt twins!!

Future Quarterbacks need their milk!

Mama, Mama .......MAMA!!

Seeing this sweet face sad breaks my heart!

I have a parenting question for all the moms and grandmas out there. What do you do when you little one seems to be temporally traumatized by you simply leaving the room? These last two weeks anytime I leave the room to do something else my son runs after me yelling MAMA!! Its so sad! My husband will be in the room I leave so its not that he is alone. He will even be enjoying himself watching one of his favorite DVDs and the second he hears me get up he gets upset.
This has become quiet the issue when I have to use the bathroom. I can hear him crying "mama mama" and see his little fingers poking under the door. Its very heart breaking that he gets that upset. When I open the door to come out he is instantly ok. My husband is baffled by this too. He will pick up our son and try to calm him, but that only works for a few minutes until he remembers I am not in the room. Showering for the day has started to give me anxiety knowing my little guy is gonna freak out. I have been trying to wake up before him to shower but he always seems to hear me. He has hearing like a hawk I swear!!
Does anyone have a tip or some info to share with me to help my little guy avoid a melt down when he sees me leave the room?
Thanks in advance!!

The Real Skinny on Losing It Book Review

The Real Skinny On Losing It by Michelle McKinney Hammond.

This is the first book I have read by Michelle McKinney Hammond. I loved her enthusiasm, sauciness, and fun spin on the very serious subject of permanent weight loss. She takes us on a detailed journey of her many attempts at losing weight. From the cabbage soup diet, to the rice diet, to the lemon juice cleanse, McKinney Hammond does indeed seem to have tried everything to take off the pounds. There is a lot of information in this book. Much more than the "Do this and you'll get skinny" diet book. Not everyone will be willing to try some of the suggestions here, such as eating according to your blood type, or using acupuncture. But her wise, bottom line advice is extremely motivating and powerful. She wants us to understand that we must nurture our bodies, our souls, and our spirits. And when we do this, the weight battle is no longer really a battle at all. With a dose of God and some spiritual principles included, I would recommend this book to anyone trying to lose weight.

A little info about the author from the Publishers website :

Michelle McKinney Hammond is the author of over 30 books on living, loving, and overcoming. She is the President and Founder of HeartWing Ministries, which hosts annual DIVA Weekend Getaway Conferences. As a relationship and empowerment coach, internationally known speaker, singer and television co–host, it is Michelle's mission and passion to help women and men to first be intimately connected to God and then empowered to become their personal best in order to experience victory in every area of their lives.

You can visit Michelle McKinney Hammond website for more information about her.

Soda Stream Review

Soda Stream is a fun alternative to store bought soda, and they have a ton of flavors to choose from. There is Ginger Ale, Rooter, Cranberry Raspberry, Zero Coke, Diet Lemon Lime, Diet Pink Grapefruit and they even have an Energy drink! Soda Stream brought back a fond memory for me, I remember as a small child my Dad came home from the local fair with a soda making machine. It seems like such a dinosaur in comparison to this kit. In the old day you had to funnel the water through the top and wait and wait for it to become bubbly. There was like 2 flavors to choose from and it just tasted like syrup to me. Not something I enjoyed at all, and as a kid who wants to wait what feels like forever?

Well the Soda Stream making machine was so simply that I could not believe it! All that we had to do was fill up the bottle with cold water, put it under the spout, twist it on like a cap and push the button three times. Then we added a cap full of whatever flavor we choose (we picked Rootbeer to start), put the cap on the bottle, flip it around a few times to mix up the flavor and we were done. It was awesome. In our first attempt we were a little apprehensive about holding the button down too long and it was not very bubbly. So on our second attempt we followed the directions (who knew) and it worked great. It took us only like 3 minutes to make the soda from start to finish. It comes with two bottles which was nice so that you could have two choices in the fridge for later. Also included were 3 bottles of flavoring for sparkling water, I tried the Lemon Lime and really liked it for a healthier feel.

I brought the machine over to my parent’s house to show my Dad how far soda making has come. He was very impressed and could not wait to get started. My sister loved the idea of the Energy drink (she seems to drink them like water) and said it was great, tasted like Red Bull. She also said that the Energy drinks she buys in the store cost so much that this is a much cheaper alternative to that. In fact while I was there she and my brother polished off the whole bottle and made another one right away. After we finished making our sodas my Dad insisted I leave it there for him to enjoy for a few days, I really need to go back and get it or I will never see it again! I think the Soda maker is a fun idea to do with older children; it is very interactive and easy to do. Your child can really help out and afterward enjoy a tasty beverage that they just helped make. The clean up was easy and the machine is so compact that it is easy to store in your cupboards.
The one drawback for my husband and I is that we aren’t as into the diet drinks as others might be. This is a great product for other Mom’s wanting to cut calories and people who really enjoy a variety of diet drinks. I love that they not only cover all of the tradition flavors but they also have choices like Diet Pink Grapefruit and an Energy drink. Making homemade soda is a fun and cost effective way to enjoy a nice cold drink.

You can purchase your own Soda Stream at Macy's, Sears, Bed Bath & Beyond and many more locations. You can find a location near you here.

If you would like more info in Soda Stream you can follow them on twitter and facebook.

*The opinions in this review are my own. I was not paid for this review. I was sent one Soda Steam kit for free for my review.

Stonyfield YoBaby Yogurt Review and Giveaway

Oddly enough my son is not a sweet food lover. He likes savory and rich foods. But thankfully he LOVES yogurt!! He is a bit picky about his flavors but if I find one he likes he will willingly eat every bite. When I was pregnant I was obsessed with Stonyfield yogurt. I would put the vanilla flavored yogurt in a fruit smoothie every night as a yummy dessert. When I saw the YoBaby line of Stonyfield yogurt I was so excited for when my baby would be old enough to try it. When he was 6 months old I first gave it to him and he loved the banana flavored one. Banana and blueberry are his favorites. For this review he tried the peach yogurt for the first time and he enjoyed every bite. He thinks he is a big boy and insisted that I let him feed himself. He made a mess but ate the whole thing! A few things I love about YoBaby is that the product is made with whole milk by cows that have not been treated with synthetic growth hormones or antibiotics, the yogurt is certified organic and the yogurt contains a unique blend of 6 probiotics. I give him the yogurt when he has some tummy issues and it really seems to help him.

Now that my son is 14 months old he seems to be more picky about drinking milk instead of formula so I am thankful he will eat his yogurt. I know he needs the zinc and calcium that are in the whole milk yogurt. We have tried the Gerber Yogurt but he seems to not enjoy the flavor as much. So if you have not had any luck with other brands of yogurt please do try the YoBaby. I think the flavor difference of it being organic makes a difference to his little pallet.

Here is some information about YoBaby yogurt from their website:

Certified organic. Because YoBaby is organic, you know it’s made without the use of persistent pesticides. That’s especially important for babies, because their little bodies are more vulnerable to pesticide exposure. YoBaby is also made without the use of synthetic growth hormones or antibiotics.

Helps support brain development. We make YoBaby from whole milk, which helps support healthy brain development. Pediatricians recommend whole milk for babies and toddlers up to two years.

Helps support baby’s immune system. One serving of YoBaby provides 25% of your baby’s daily need for zinc, the mineral that helps support a healthy immune system.

Helps support growth. Each serving of YoBaby provides at least 25% of your baby’s daily needs for calcium, protein, and vitamin D, plus other nutrients essential for babies' growth.

Six live active cultures. Like all of our yogurts, YoBaby contains our exclusive blend of six cultures, including the probiotic L. rhamnosus.

Makes feeding time easy. YoBaby is delicious, so babies love it. Parents tell us all the time that YoBaby is one of the first foods their babies ask for by name.

“YoBaby yogurt is rich with nutrients, purely organic, and made with whole milk recommended for proper nutrition. Little ones love the taste, so I know it is an easy and fun food for parents to serve.”

— “America’s Pediatrician” Dr. Bill Sears
