The holidays really are my favorite time of the year to be in the kitchen, and I love cooking for family and friends. It makes me so happy to bring everyone around the table for a delicious meal, and I like trying new recipes.

This year I bought Tyson® Cornish Hens to make, and they are honestly so simple to cook. And it's nice to change up the holiday menu, and serve the hens instead of the usual ham or turkey.

Not only are these hens fabulously simple to make, they are 100% All Natural with no added hormones or steroids. They are also yummy, comfort food, just like Mom used to make.

I paired them with simple roasted sweet potatoes and a great Cranberry and Apple Stuffing, made with an easy boxed stuffing mix. It might all look like a fancy dinner, but it was super simple!

I'm a big stuffing fan, I could eat any kind and love it, but this stuffing is one of my favorites. It's perfect for the holidays and makes your kitchen smell so, so good.

It goes great with any meat or poultry, and it went particularly well with the hens. I think the tartness of the cranberries and the sweetness of the apples are a great combination.

I bought a few of the the Tyson® All Natural Premium Cornish Hen twin packs. I put some in the freezer so that I can have them on hand for more holiday meals or birthday dinners that are coming up. I know some people are a little intimidated when it comes to cooking these hens, but when you do serve them, you can make even a normal weeknight meal feel special.

Look for Tyson® All Natural Premium Cornish Hens in the meat and poultry department at your local Walmart.

And you can take advantage of a great money saving offer from Ibotta. Ibotta is a mobile rebate app that you can download on your phone or mobile device.

I'd love to share my easy recipe for Holiday Cornish Game Hens and Cranberry Apple Stuffing. Each hen provides a generous helping of meat for each person. Since the hens come frozen, be sure to put them in the refrigerator overnight so that they can defrost. Simply rinse them off and pat them dry with paper towels. I set them in a 9x11 inch baking pan with the sweet potatoes, and they were ready to be brushed with olive oil and seasoning.

I sliced up two medium sweet potatoes and put them around the hens to bake. We've always had sweet potatoes for our holiday meals and it just wouldn't be Christmas without them.

For the Cranberry Apple Stuffing, I sautéed 2 peeled and diced apples, along with 1 cup of fresh cranberries. I added this to a boxed stuffing recipe mix and popped it in the oven for 30 minutes. It's super festive without a lot of work.

Recipe for Holiday Cornish Game Hens and Cranberry Apple Stuffing

1 Tyson® All Natural Premium Cornish Hens twin pack
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 tablespoon seasoning salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed

For Stuffing:

2 tablespoons butter (for sautéing cranberries and apples)
2 apples, peeled, and chopped
1 cup fresh cranberries
1 box prepared stuffing mix
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Add yams to 9x11-inch baking pan. Remove thawed hens from wrappers, rinse and pat dry with paper towels. Place hens in baking dish.
In a small bowl, mix together dried onion flakes, seasoning salt, and black pepper. Thoroughly brush hens with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning mixture. Bake in the oven for 60 minutes.

To make the stuffing, heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a frying pan, sauté apples until softened. Add cranberries and cook 5 minutes longer. In a medium bowl, add stuffing mix, water, melted butter, apples and cranberries. Lightly mix together. Place mixture in a medium baking dish and bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.

Oatmeal Cinnamon Scone Recipe

Have you ever made scones? I've wanted to try making them for years but I've always thought I couldn't make a proper scone. Like maybe the Queen of England would somehow see them and tell me they were not worthy of being called scones.

Thankfully I got over that and have made several different kinds of scones, and they are all quite tasty! In fact, I love a yummy warm scone with jam or butter on a cold winter morning. There is something quite comforting to me to be able to have a warm treat before I go about my day, and these Oatmeal Cinnamon Scones are just the thing to have for that.

This recipe is quite simple and only requires basic ingredients that most cooks have on hand in their refrigerators and cupboards. They are marvelous to eat when they first come out of the oven, and almost as good when reheated in the microwave.

Add a little jam and butter, and you have a yummy treat for breakfast or brunch. One even the Queen might approve of.

Recipe for Cinnamon Oatmeal Scones

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup oats
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup milk

1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheet with baking spray. In a medium bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. With pastry blender or fork, cut in 1/2 cup butter until mixture is crumbly. Add milk all at once, stir just until dry ingredients are moistened.
On floured work surface, gently knead dough 5 or 6 times. Place on cookie sheet, press into 6-inch round, about 1 inch thick. Brush top with melted butter.
In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle over top. Cut into 8 wedges, separate slightly.
Bake 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Makes 8 scones.

Frosch Cleaning Supplies Review #MomsMeet #Frosch

*I received this product for free from the sponsor of the Moms Meet program, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my opinion on my blog. My opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC or the manufacturer of this product.

Being someone who suffers from migraines I am always aware of the scent of things. There have been many instances in my life that terrible migraines have started by a bad chemical smell in household cleaning supplies. Not only am I aware of the chemical smell I am often concerned about what else the harsh chemicals can be doing to my family.

I have tried several organic and eco friendly cleaning supplies brands over the years searching to find a brand I could use daily and have it work. ( I love having a sparkling clean home!)

I recently learned about the brand Frosch through Moms Meet. They are a German based eco friendly company that makes natural plant based cleaning products that are skin friendly without damaging chemicals. Frosch has been a popular brand in Europe and is now finally available in the USA.

My favorite of the Frosch brand items I reviewed was the All Purpose Cleaner Baking Soda Spray. I love using an all purpose cleaner for counter tops and surfaces. This product worked great and left no smells or residue behind. If it can clean the bathroom my 6 year old son uses it can certainly clean the rest of the house. I have made my own household cleaners with a baking soda base but this was much easier and worked better.

Oh how I loved the lavender scent of this Universal Cleaner! I have hardwood and tile floors with no carpet in my home. We are constantly cleaning floors from spills, foot traffic and more. I need a product that is gentle and smells good, this one is it. I often use the scent of lavender to ease my migraines and love the scent of it. Having a cleaning product smell that way was fabulous.

The Pomegranate dish soap was my favorite of the dish soaps they offer. I use a lot of hand sanitizer in my job outside of blogging and having dry hands I need a dish soap that is ph balanced and will not make my hands even drier. The product works well and makes my hands a tad softer than I started out with, very nice!

The Lemon Toilet Bowl Cleaner did require some scrubbing after letting the product sit for a while. But I figured a little effort with a toilet brush was worth not having the harsh smell of bleach.

Christmas Butter Cookies

Last week I started getting into the Christmas spirit, and decided to make some Christmas cookies. We always had butter cookies during the holidays when I was a kid. I wish that I had my mom's recipe for them, they were always so rich and delicious, and decorated with sprinkles just like these.

This recipe is actually fairly easy, and I think the cookies turn out best when the dough is refrigerated over night. You can add whatever kind of sprinkles you like of course, but the red and green are very festive.

These cookies hold up well if you'd like to give them as a gift, too. That is if you have any left over, which I didn't because my grandchildren thought they were perfect with a glass of milk on a cold afternoon.

I ate my fair share too, because they just tasted so good. For me, Christmas is about food, and treats and sharing them with friends and family. And cookies are so easy to make and give, and who doesn't love receive homemade goodies?

Recipe for Christmas Butter Cookies

8 ounces unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 large egg yolk
2 cups all-purpose flour
Sprinkles for decorating

Beat the butter, sugar, salt and vanilla together until smooth and creamy.
Mix in the egg yolk until well incorporated, scraping down the sides of the bowl at least once,
Add the flour and mix just until incorporated.
Scrape onto a lightly floured board and knead a few times.
Turn onto a sheet of waxed paper and roll into a log, wrap and refrigerate, or over night.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Before baking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Slice the dough into slices about 1/8-inch thick and place them on the baking sheet. Shake on sprinkles.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until just beginning to turn golden brown around the edges.

Makes approximately 32 cookies.

I made these last year, but they are a classic, so I wanted to share them again.

Holiday Breakfast Pancakes with Nordic Ware Baking Pan #MadeinUSA #Holidaybakeware

* I received Nordic Ware products to review and share a recipe. All opinions shared are my own.

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals during the holidays. We make pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon and all the tradition breakfast fixings. Waking up to a warm meal and a good cup of coffee is a great way to start the day when it is cold outside. This year I have step things up a notch by making pancakes in a Nordic Ware Mini Bundt Tea Cakes and Candies pan. I mixed up a basic recipe for pancakes and poured the mixture into the cake pan. The pan can be used for candies and cakes but I thought it would make perfect pancakes. They turned out delicious and golden. Be sure to put oil and a dash of flour on the pan before pouring in mixture to ensure them coming out easily. Pop them in the oven at 350 for 15-20 min and top with any syrup you enjoy.

Since I was making several servings of pancakes I allowed them to cool on a cookie sheet while the others baked. Next time I make these I plan to put precooked bacon inside and sprinkle cheese on top after baked for a more savory version of holiday pancakes. I attempted to make pumpkin fudge in the pan to have cute candies but I overcooked my fudge and ruined it. I will definitely try fudge or another candy in them to take to work for the holidays. I can think of so many recipes I already have that would be 10 times more fun in the Nordic Ware pan.

The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure Video Game by Activision #PeanutsMovie

I have always been a Snoopy and Peanuts fan. I grew up watching the movies and have loved sharing the movies with my own child. With the release of the new The Peanuts Movie I have even gotten my reluctant husband into being a Snoopy fan! When we read on a happy meal box that there was a video game Snoopy's Grand Adventure being released I knew it would be a must have for our holiday list.

We have 2 gaming systems in my house, the Wii U and Playstation 4. I was able to review the game on both systems and both have pros and cons. The PS4 has a higher resolution making the game more crisp looking but the Wii U has the ability to be played in the mini game controller screen. My son was able to play the Snoopy game on Wii U while my husband and I watched a movie on the tv. I found that to be convenient since we did not want him to be alone in the other room playing video games but still in the room with us enjoying his game. To save time you don't even need to buy the game at the store, you can download the full version on your system from the Playstation Network or Nintendo Network.

My son has loved the game and has already beat the main story line but needs to go back in to collect certain items in the game to unlock all the special items. I enjoyed watching him play since it was all the Peanuts characters I love! Often times I find other things to do while he plays games but this one brought the whole family together to watch and play.

My son's favorite part of the game was the level where he was flying and chasing the Red Baron! I really liked the first level, the game is so colorful and the game play is smooth. We have enjoyed the game and movie so much it inspired us to take a trip to Southern CA to Knott's Berry Farm to celebrate our son's birthday. Having played the game first the theme park was that much cooler to him. When he rode the Red Baron ride he yelled I am just like Snoopy in the video game! Too cute!

The Imaginative World of The Peanuts Movie Also Comes Alive in
Peanuts: Snoopy’s Town Tale, Coming to Select Apple Devices Nov. 5
SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Nov. 3, 2015 – Activision Publishing, Inc. has released The PeanutsMovie: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure, a new console game, as a part of its deal with PeanutsWorldwide. The game is inspired by the classic comic strip from Charles M. Schulz, which just recently celebrated its 65th anniversary. This side-scrolling exploration platformer features simple, pick-up-and-play controls and the classic characters and humor of Peanuts, delivering a great experience for fans of all ages.
When Charlie Brown and the gang run off to play hide-and-seek, Snoopy hits the trail to track them down. As players dive into the wild worlds of Snoopy’s imagination, they’ll traverse a multitude of different environments, from the deep jungle to the moon itself, each teeming with surprises and dangers. Snoopy can reach new places with unique hidden costumes that give the beagle new abilities based on his many infamous alter egos, including Joe Cool and the Flying Ace, which unlocks special flight stages. A second player can partner up as Woodstock to help Snoopy get past dangerous creatures and obstacles, or find secret paths and collectibles such as jelly beans and the trusty Beagle Scouts.
The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure draws from the distinctive style and playful charm of The Peanuts Movie, coming to theaters on Nov. 6 from 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios. The varied worlds of Snoopy’s daydreams are painted in gorgeously colorful 3D detail, and the film’s vocal cast is showcased throughout the game.
The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure is out today in North America on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One for $49.99 MSRP, Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii U™ system for $39.99 MSRP, and the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system for $29.99 MSRP. It is rated E (Everyone) by the ESRB.
In addition, Activision Publishing, Inc. will be launching Peanuts: Snoopy’s Town Tale, a free-to-play mobile game for select iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, on Nov. 5 via the App Store. Players can join Snoopy and other fan-favorite PEANUTS characters to build, explore, and go on quests through the iconic locations from the comic strip. Peanuts: Snoopy’s Town Talewill be available in December for select Android devices through Google Play and Kindle Fire via the Amazon Appstore.

If you are a Peanuts and Snoopy fan I highly recommend getting this game for the children in your life. You can find Snoopy's Grand Adventure at most stores that sell toys and games, I saw a great deal at Target for the game.
