Start the day with Silk Fruit & Protein Milk

*This is a sponsored post
Morning time can be a challenge for my family. I am a night owl that likes to stay up and on my days off my son stays up a little later than normal too. This can lead to a rough start to the morning. I always start the day telling him "Good Morning, its time to Wake Up!". Days I sleep in he will come into my room and tell me the same thing. Cute and sweet but oh my can it be early!

I always have to have a cup of coffee in the morning and then breakfast. On days I do not have as much time to make a big breakfast I like to have a glass of Silk Fruit & Protein for myself and my son. Its less acidity than OJ making it easier to drink after a morning cup of coffee. I sip it while I make my lunch for work and make my son his lunch. He stays at home with my husband but he still likes me to make him his lunch. I find that keeping a routine with the way we wake up, the items we have for breakfast and making lunch ahead of time makes a great start to the day.

My son enjoys the flavor of the Mixed Berry and I like that he is getting calcium, protein, vitamin C and vitamin D all in one glass. His favorite one is the Strawberry Banana and I love the Mango Peach one. Its an easy way to start the day or even serve with lunch. During the summer months we use it as a base in smoothies and homemade popsicles.

I found the Silk Fruit & Protein in the refrigerated section of my store near the milk, creamers and other Silk products. If you like smoothies the Fruit & Protein drink is an easy way to get the taste of one with only needing to pour a glass!

I always like to save money so I thought I would share the $1 off Silk Fruit & Protein coupon with you.

You can find Silk Fruit & Protein in a store near you using the Store Locator.

Photo Fun with HGTV #lovehome and Giveaway #HGTV

I learned as a kid home is where you family is! It does not matter if its a big or small home, full of things or only the basics, a home you own or one you rent, what matters is the people you love live there. We moved a lot as kids but I loved it. I found it to be adventurous and any time we moved I had all the best friends I needed, my siblings. This last year my husband and I had to move our family into a condo from a house and again I realized its not the kind of roof over your head but the people in it. We had to find our dog a new home and that has been rough having no dog and a new place to live. We have been getting more comfy here and things like cooking in the kitchen, having plants to garden, sharing movies together and having parties together as a family is what makes this house a home.

Having a garden even a small one makes it feel like Home.

A place to have parties and celebrate the small stuff is Home.

For my son Home is where his Giraffe is

The word “home” can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. As leaders in home improvement, HGTV wants to dive deeper into the concept of “Home” and find out exactly what this phrase means to you. What does home mean to you and your readers? Home is your city. Home is your family, your friends, or your favorite neighborhood hangout. It’s more than just an address. It’s the place you fall in love with – over and over again. Capture the moments and share your favorite photos + you might even see them on HGTV.

Tag with #lovehome and  #HGTV on Instagram and Twitter. You can also check out the gallery of photos at HGTV.com/LoveHome. HGTV is all about ideas, inspiration and, of course, home. Every day we share with you all of our experts in renovation, real estate and design, on air and online. Now we want you to share what home means with us. We want to see real photos, from real viewers, of all things home. The birthdays and the lazy Sundays. Their best pals and four-legged friends. We want to see and share what home REALLY means. All you have to do is hashtag your favorite photos of home with #lovehome and share on Twitter or Instagram. You may even see your photos on HGTV. Over 40,000 photos have been submitted and we want even more.

Chuck E Cheese "Say Cheese" App Review and Giveaway

My family loves Chuck E Cheese! We have been going to Chuck E Cheese since I was 5 years old, I am sure before then but its the time I started to really remember going. With my own son we have been going even before he was big enough to enjoy anything, it was just a fun place to be. The pizza and the dancing Chuck E Cheese stage show brings back so many great memories. When my nephew (Sam's oldest son) was just a little guy we took him to Chuck E Cheese when they came to visit from WA. Its a great place for parents to take the kids for a night of fun.

I always take a ton of pictures when I go and now there is a fun new way to enjoy pictures at Chuck E Cheese. They have made a new App called "Say Cheese". There are little posters and stickers all over the store that you point your smart phone at for Chuck E Cheese to appear and change poses as your child stands next to him. Of course you need to download the free app first.

We have had so much fun this week at Chuck E Cheese we have gone twice! Be sure to look for the "Say Cheese Here" signs and the different color versions to see Chuck E Cheese do different poses.

Grab your phone because family entertainment leader, Chuck E. Cheese’s brand new iPhone and Android app, Say Cheese! is available for free download.

The new Say Cheese! App makes trips to Chuck E. Cheese’s even more fun for kids of all ages. Using augmented reality, the app allows parents and kids to take fun photos with an animated version of Chuck E. Cheese on any visit to the family restaurant and gaming center.

In order to activate the app, just download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play. You can use it by traveling to your nearby Chuck E. Cheese’s where you will find “Say Cheese Here!” signs located throughout the store. It’s simple, just turn on the app and point your camera at one of the “Say Cheese Here!” signs, then watch Chuck E. come to life!

To download the app visit the Apple App Store or Google Play.

To see the how-to video for the app click this link: http://youtu.be/2g_g-30jhvE

Don’t forget to email your pictures at memories@cecentertainment.com, and tweet your pictures using #saycheese or our Twitter handle @chuckecheese.

We had a wonderful time and my son LOVES the Chuck E Cheese dance where all the kids join together with Chuck and dance! Pizza, Pictures and Games, it could not get any more fun!

GIVEAWAY
To celebrate the New Chuck E Cheese "Say Cheese" app we are hosting a giveaway for 2 lucky readers to win a Family Pass to Chuck E Cheese. A family pass is for pizza, 4 drinks and 30 tokens.

Wordless Wednesday

Both my 2.5 year old and 1 year old are napping at the same time RIGHT NOW, it doesn't happen often around here but when it does it's heaven on earth.
I call it a duel napping.
When it actually does happen I have a chance to enjoy a few "me" things.
Like a great magazine, some (white) chocolate treats and a few moment of silence.
Happy Hump Day!

Celebrate Earth Day with DISNEYNATURE’S “WINGS OF LIFE” Blu-Ray

DISNEYNATURE’S BREATHTAKING FEATURE
“WINGS OF LIFE” LANDS ON BLU-RAY® COMBO PACK,
DIGITAL AND ON DEMAND APRIL 16, 2013,
IN TIME FOR EARTH DAY

I always love seeing all the Disney Nature movies. They are very detailed and full of fascinating facts. I enjoyed watching the last movie about Chimpanzees and knew that the newest movie would be great. I was impressed by the stunning colors and learning things I did not know. The close up slow motion photography made a world come alive that people do not normally see. My son yelled cool and awesome so many times! He likes butterflies since we have visited the Butterfly Garden at Six Flags. He enjoyed the movie and has started to look for butterflies at the park. I like the Disney Nature movies can spark the interest of children on a topic that can foster more learning. Wings of Life will be one we keep in the rotation of movies we like to watch over and over.

Wings of Life Trailer on Disney Video

Info about Wings of Life:
Disneynature unveils “Wings of Life,” a spectacular, closer-than-close, high-definition look at the intricate world of butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and bats, and their life-sustaining collaboration with flowers. “Wings of Life” will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, Digital and On Demand on April 16, 2013—just in time for Earth Day.

Director Schwartzberg says: “For me, the joy of doing this film is to be able to explore worlds that humans can’t easily experience—bats sipping nectar in the middle of the desert at night, orchid bees expertly manipulated by a bucket orchid, exotic hummingbirds flying like airborne dancers, and a clustering monarch colony with millions of butterflies. I hope to share the spectacle of nature and to spark in others the sense of wonder I have about the natural world.”

Employing multiple cameras, both time-lapse and high-speed cinematography and extraordinary patience (while nature took its time unfolding), filmmakers shot on location in more than a dozen areas, ranging from the El Rosario Preserve in Michoacán, Mexico, to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument Park in Arizona. “Wings of Life” features extraordinary imagery shot with digital cameras—one capable of frame rates of up to 1500 frames per second, and the use of a pinhole lens, which allowed the cameraman to get within millimeters of an insect subject while retaining a clear view of the background. The resulting imagery—intimate and breathtaking—is brought to life for audiences through spectacular high-definition picture and sound quality.

To celebrate the debut of “Wings of Life,” Disneynature has made a contribution to the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) to protect pollinators worldwide. The DWCF has already supported more than 20 projects across North America focused on protecting pollinators and their habitats. Grants have helped conservationists save endangered butterflies, expand habitat for honeybees and educate children about the importance of pollinators and how they can help protect them.

The “Wings of Life” Blu-ray Combo Pack includes a sneak peek at Disneynature’s 2014 big-screen adventure “Bears.” In an epic story of breathtaking scale set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, the film, which is currently in production, follows two mother grizzly bears as they impart life lessons to their impressionable young cubs.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
From Disneynature, the studio that brought you Earth, Oceans, African Cats and Chimpanzee, comes Wings of Life — a stunning adventure full of intrigue, drama and mesmerizing beauty. Narrated by Meryl Streep, this intimate and unprecedented look at butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, bats and flowers is a celebration of life, as a third of the world’s food supply depends on these incredible — and increasingly threatened — creatures.

Digging for a Garden

Hitachi Mini Excavators

Spring is starting to show signs of life around here in the great Northwest, flowers are blooming, trees are blossoming and garden growing is in full bloom. I want to plant a garden this year, one that gives us plenty of fresh veggies and the satisfaction of watching it take on a life of it's own.

Every year I say that I want to grow a vegetable garden but every year it I get overwhelmed with all of the planning, ideas and execution. Our house is built into a hill, the front yard is set back into the property, with a deck that wraps around the side. So a garden in the front yard is not an option. I go back and forth with the idea of a garden in the backyard. It is ready made in a sense but the kids play out there a lot during the spring and summer and I don't want to have to worry about them digging it up. Constant monitoring of the garden is not my idea of fun, I want the kids to help me tend to the garden but under my supervision.

When my husband and I talk about where to put a garden in there is one side of our house that would work out great and comes up frequently. It is off the deck where the kids can only go over to when supervised, it has the most sun during the day and it feels like an unused area just waiting for a purpose. The only issue is there is a tree that needs to be uprooted and a lot of blackberry bushes need to be taken out. It is a big job and not something that can be done by hand. The space is tight so we would need something like a mini digger to get in there and clean it out. It would be great to be able to uproot the tree, remove those prickly bushes and move the dirt around quickly and efficiently.

We are still in the process of planning our garden area, with signs of spring popping up more and more everyday we really need to nail down a plan and fast!

Dermagist Hydrating Spa System Review and Giveaway

Logo

For Mother's Day this year I wanted to treat myself to a "spa like" treatment at home with the Hydrating Spa System by Dermagist. I wanted  my hands, feet and body to feel good not only on the actual day but weeks before hand. I am one of those people that loves to put on lotion after a bath or shower. I also like to treat each area of my body, not just my face or legs. There are three bottles in the Hydrating Spa System. The body lotion for deep hydration and firming of your skin, the hand cream for removal of age spots and discoloration along with tightening of the skin, and my favorite the foot cream for soothing and relaxing your feet and combating dryness that occurs over time. I really did enjoy all of the treatments but the foot cream is my favorite, it contains Neem, Manuka and Karanja oil, Shea butter and Eucalyptus. After a long day my feet need it.

 This set includes:
One Bottle of  Hydropeutic Body Lotion
One Bottle of  Hydro-Renewal Hand Cream
One Bottle of  Foot & Heel Revitalizing Cream

As Mothers we tend to neglect ourselves in the pampering department, thinking you will get to it later or it can wait til later. This year make it about you!  If you are looking to treat yourself, or have someone else treat you to a spa treatment this Mother's Day I recommend this at home system that you can use over and over again to help your skin feel great all year.

Imagine Toys Discovery Space Center Review and Giveaway

There are so many toys on the market to select from sometimes it can be overwhelming on what brand to pick and what types of toys to buy. My son loves make believe play. He can play for hours with his "guys" ("guys" are the action figure toys he has). He makes them fight, jump, fly, talk and dance. I have been looking for a toy that he can have as the hub of where his action heroes could play. Little girls have doll houses and little boys do not have many cool options. When I found the Hape Discovery Space Center toy online at ImagineToys.com I was thrilled to have an answer to a cool toy for my son.

My son can be rough with his toys and a few plastic toys did not survive a week in our house. The Discovery Space Center is made of wood with non toxic paint and very durable. He has pushed it over when there was a "monster alien attack" he has thrown the little space ship that launches from the top when it was blasting off and it has all stayed intact.

I love to encourage his imagination with toys like this one. He can make up little stories as to what adventures are happening. The toy is very interactive with a pulley system elevator, 3 astronauts, an alien and four levels of space center activities. We are planning a trip to a Discovery Space Center Museum locally and this is a great way to introduce the topic to my son in a fun way. He is learning and playing at the same time.

Imagine Toys has many wonderful options when it comes to Pretend Play toys. I think kids need more toys like this to help with their creativity development and story telling skills.

To celebrate the Spring and to encourage you to buy Pretend Play toys for your kids this summer when school is out we are hosting a giveaway for 1 lucky winner to win a Discovery Space Center for your own child or grandchild.

Sacramento Kennel Club Dog Show 2013

Sunday morning we attended the Sacramento Kennel Club Dog Show. I was so glad we were able to make it on the last day. My son had so much fun last year I knew this year he would be delighted to go. We were watching Good Day Sacramento on tv with a morning cup of coffee and saw the preview of the Dog Show. My son was so happy and asked to go so we jumped in the car and drove down to Sacramento.

I am happy we went! My son adores dogs, he always asks people at parks if he can pet their dog. He gets the biggest smile on his face. Since we moved and had to find a new home for our dog ( you can red the story about that here) my son has asked about our dog a lot, he still calls her his dog and when he sees a black lab he yells her name. It breaks my heart! I knew he would love to see all the dogs at the show.

He was so excited for all the different dog breeds. He asked what kind they were and what their names were. He got many dog kisses lol which for him was awesome! He got to shake some paws, give a few high fives and petted so many dogs he could not stop smiling.

Last year his favorite dog was a Great Dane named Patrick. This year we met the sweetest, mellow dog I have ever met, Anya. She is an Anatolian dog that originates from Turkey. Anya's owners were just as sweet as she is! They let my son pet her, shake her hand, look in her mouth at all her teeth, mess with her paws, touch her tail and the dog even laid down to get belly rubs! My son did not want to leave the dog. The owners live and breed the dogs on Rare Breed Ranch in Northern CA. It was nice to meet breeders that were from Cali.

Anya the Anatolian dog. She is so mellow!!

Another Dog from the Rare Breed Ranch, Boris

He did a few crying fits since after all he is 3 1/2, he wanted to get in the ring with the dogs. He put his little hands on the gate to watch as close as he could without getting in there and a volunteer came over and told him dont touch the fencing and gave me a look. He loves dogs he cant help it! :)

My son took this picture. He wanted to pet them then take a pic lol

He cried again when he could not pet EVERY dog he saw. The poor kid would have stayed all day petting dogs if I let him. We were there a few hours and when we left he asked me pretty please can we go back. I am glad he had so much fun. I am hoping by next year he will have his own dog to go home to.

Taking more pictures of the dogs in the ring that he could not pet

* We were guests of the Sacramento Dog Show and received tickets to enter. This is a non paid post.
