MiSwivel Feeding Chair Review

As soon as I had the opportunity to review the MiSwivel feeding chair I jumped on the chance! Feeding chairs to me are the modern solution to a high chair. I find a feeding chair to be more convenient for my family. It allows him to be more apart of the family by being at the same level as us during dinner. Plus in a feeding chair he is more at my level if I pull his chair into the living room to feed him while I am on the couch, (lazy yes but easier sometimes!) We currently have the Fisher Price feeding chair and I found it to be simple and nice but the Mi Swivel is something totally different. This chair was very unique in the way it moves. It can swivel from left to right and titled backwards at different angles and fully forwards to sit upright. The handle that makes the chair move and swivel is easy to use. I was excited to see the 5 point safety harness. Our old chair is only a lap belt and my super wiggle worm is always leaning forward when the tray is off, it worries me he might be able to tilt the chair. At first he was upset that he had to wear a harness but after 3 minutes of singing and dancing for him he calmed down and let me put the tray on. The tray is luxury and thankfully dishwasher safe! It is nice and big to allow room for your little one to have a plate or bowl along with a cup. It fits perfectly on our dining room chairs and he seems to enjoy the big tray to pile up his banana puffs on. The pattern is cute and I am sure in the future there will be more great colors and designs. The clean up on the chair is very easy! The washable cover makes making a mess less stressful knowing I can just toss it in the washer. My hubby thought the chair could maybe not be so white to show food mishaps. Our older feeding chair is tan and red so it allows for less finger prints and messes to be shown. For me as a mom I thought the functionality of the chair was wonderful. This chair is a must for a baby shower. I would have loved to have a chair that can tilt to accommodate feeding a newborn. This chair is designed to grow with your child and can accommodate a 4 year old using it as a booster chair. I definitely look forward to saving money on needing a booster chair since he will have this chair for many more years.

My Little Birdie mad about wearing a harness!

** I had cuter pics but they sadly were erased!  All I had left was the "Hes mad because he has a harness on him pics". He calmed down after I took off the tray and made him happy again! He does love having his puffs on the big tray every afternoon while mom cleans!

* I was not paid for this post. I was sent for free one feeding chair to review. This is my honest opinion and may vary from others.

Free Spirit Books and Pretty Little Studio Flash Cards Giveaway

Recently I had the opportunity to review two books from Free Spirit Books. The two books I was sent are Going Blue: A Teen Guide to Saving Our Oceans, Lakes, Rivers, & Wetlands and Too Old for This, Too Young for That! Your Survival Guide for The Middle School Years. Free Spirit sent me an additional set to offer for the Blog Fest giveaway!

Going Blue: A Teen Guide to Saving Our Oceans, Lakes, Rivers, & Wetlands is an engaging and colorful guide  to encourage teens to be apart of taking care of our oceans and waterways. I have always been a fan Jacques Cousteau so I was excited to see one of the co authors was Philippe Cousteau Sr., his grandson. This book definitely exceeded my expectations. I was impressed by the amount of facts and real life how to for teens. This book is informative and easy to read. It is divided into 5 sections to inform teens and give them ways to act and make a difference. The book is also full of online sources for more information on how to save the oceans with the small steps teens can make such as a website that helps teens learn to make sustainable seafood choices. I know that teens are the future protectors of our oceans and this book encourages teens to evaluate and take action to save the waterways. Pictures can say more to a kid than just a bunch of words so the vividly colorful pictures are perfect for this book to capture the interest of teens. The great thing about this book is it can be read all at once or a little at a time and you still learn so much. This would be great to read first then have your teen read so you can have a book to talk about and make ways to together make a difference. This book would be great to also buy to donate to a local library, a school library and for teachers. You can purchase this book for $14.99 at their website.

Too Old for This, Too Young for That! Your Survival Guide for The Middle School Years is a book written for middle school aged children to have a resource in dealing with all the ups and downs of the middle ground between between being a kid and being a teenager. This book was a reminder of how tough it can be to be a adolescent. I know for me I wanted to be able to do teen stuff like shop at the mall and have cool stuff but at the same time I still loved to play barbies with my sister. So it can definitely be an awkward time to be a middle schooler, kids find themselves wanting to be " grown up" but still having attachments to kid stuff. This book guides kids to know they are not alone and their feelings are validated. The book offers practical advice for kids to deal with peer pressure, bullies, body changes and even study and homework tips. The book gives solutions for kids to learn to deal with feelings of frustration, anger, confusion, and learn to be confident with who they are. This book is written for kids but any adult would benefit from reading it first to be able to discuss the topics in the book. It could be a great way to open up dialog with your middle schooler. This book has quotes about situations other kids have been in sharing how they felt in a moment that I think other kids can relate to. An overall good guide for any young kid about to enter middle school. You can purchase this book for $15.99 at their website.

Pretty Little Studio is a really cute site that sells all sorts of paper products including  flash cards, calendars, paper dolls, vintage cutouts, tags and labels, buntings, jar labels, note cards and more! They are just now offering Christmas items on their site. They have awesome customer service and they take paypal. I purchased a set of Vintage Baby Flashcards that I love, I blogged about it here.

Water proof, Smudge proof, and Fade resistant. Printed in the U.S.A. You can purchase this set of flash cards for $5.79 here.

Kohls Labor Day Sale

Every so often I get a postcard in the mail from Kohls for a FREE $10. I get so excited when I do because that means FREE baby clothes! I always get my son 2 outfits from the Clearance section or 2 pieces of Jumping Beans clothing, these usually go on sale for $4.99 anytime Kohls is having a sales event. I have gotten my son some really cute shorts, tank tops, jeans and pants that way. If you don't get the $10 off any purchase coupons in the mail you can sign up for their mailing list here and include your street address on your profile or even call customer service to request them to be sent to you. Kohls can send a lot of email so maybe use a email addy you have stuff like that sent to. I purchased for $ 0.87 one jumper outfit and a 2 piece set of Dino jammies. The items were on clearance and my receipt said I saved $35 from the original price, a great deal to me!

Wholesale Costume Club Review

I am really excited for Halloween this year. This will be my little boys first Halloween! When I was a kid Halloween was filled with so much fun and excitement! We always dressed up, decorated the house, trick or treated and passed out candy as it became to late for us kids to be out. I have very fond memories of being a witch, a pumpkin, and many more creatures. I want to make every Halloween for my little boy just as wonderful and full of amazement as my Halloweens were. I found a great partner in making those Halloween adventures possible. The Wholesale Costume Club offers scary and cute costumes for all ages. Everything from vampires, witches, and dinosaurs to the not so scary pumpkins, super heroes, and cowboys.  They also have character favorites such as Woody and Buzz from Toy Story, Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Barney and Friends, Elmo, Winnie the Pooh and friends, Madeline, Scooby Doo, Star Wars, and Yo Gabba Gabba! There are too many great costumes to list!

Out of all the Infant/Toddler costumes we picked for my little guy to be a LOBSTER! I thought this would be a wonderful and unique creature for my son to be on his first Halloween. He looks so cute in his costume and was smiling and laughing as he was wearing it. It fit him perfect to the size I ordered and has a Velcro neck fastener to cover the zipper. He was loving wearing the head part of the costume and pulled on his antennae with delight. His dads face lit up with a huge smile when I showed him, his dad LOVES to eat lobster! We both agree the quality of the costume is excellent and will hold up to the wiggling and crawling our son does. The colors are vibrant and the claws and tail were the perfect lobster body. We will have to have him wear it for more than Halloween just for fun!  We even went in the back yard after dark to test the warmth of the costume and it kept our little guy comfy and warm.  You can have this lobster costume for your little one for only $36.98 non member price. Your kids only have so many Halloweens to experience as a child so make this Halloween special by buying your costume at Wholesale Costume Club.

Wholesale Costume Club offers low prices well below retail but offers an even greater discount for members of their site. For ONLY $5 a year you can have access to the lowest prices with no minimum purchase requirements. They will NOT send you any products during the year so need to worry about unwanted items and they will NOT auto renew your membership.  They do offer you a cheaper shipping discount. Shipping for members starts at $5.99. This would be a great way to save money on costumes all year long for events such as plays, costume parties, fundraisers, or just general fun! I had my little guy in a monkey costume in January just because it was so cute! No holiday or special event needed to put a smile on your face from a cutie in a costume. So if you are a member or not you will get great savings on all your costume needs.

Remember to check back at Wholesale Costume Club for Christmas costumes. Last year my little guy was Santa this year maybe and elf or reindeer!

* This post is my honest opinion and may vary from other opinions. I was not paid for this post. I was provided for free one lobster costume to review.

Sock 'n Boots Book Review

Sock 'n Boots Book Review
Sock 'n Boots - Share

I loved to read books to my son. I feel it is a great learning experience and chance to bond with him. I try to select books for him that reflect what I want to teach him. Recently I had the opportunity to review a new book Sock 'n Boots: Share . My first thought was the characters are so cute because they go together, like peanut butter and jelly! My second thought is that they are fun characters and provide a colorful experience as my son learns. The detail of illustrations are wonderful. There is a lot going on in the background like bugs, birds and flowers and it makes for a very visual experience as you read the book.  My son listened and touched the colorful pictures as I read it to him. He smiled when I decided to read it to him a few times more. He loves to listen to books that have a rhythmic rhyme to them like this book does.

This book is about learning to share. The book offers a question in the beginning for the theme and shares a story about answering the question.  I thought this was a great idea to make a child really listen to the story to see if they can find the answer. Plus it gives the opportunity to discuss the lesson the book is trying to teach.  The book is simple and an easy read, one you can have your small child read back to you. Overall we loved the story and how they overcame obstacles together as a team to share and have a solution.

I look forward to the upcoming Sock 'n Boots: Afraid of the Dark and Sock 'n Boots: Play it Safe.

You can buy this cute book on Amazon here or read more about the book at their website here.

You can follow Sock 'n Boots on twitter for updates about new books coming soon.

* This post is my honest opinion and may vary from other opinions. I was not paid for this post. I was provided for free the book to review.

Funky Monkey Snack Review

Recently I was sent a package of Funky Monkey Fruit Snacks to review. I was very excited because our family loves to eat dried fruit. To my surprise this was very different from most dried fruit because it is freeze dried which makes for a crunchy sweet snack. These snacks are 100% real fruit no sugar added, a raw vegan food, peanut and tree nut free (great snack for play dates where children may have allergies) and their unique freeze dry process helps retain the flavor and nutrients of the fruit. Funky Monkey snacks contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives and NO high fructose corn syrup, that is a huge must for any snacks we buy. Plus each ounce of Funky Monkey snacks contain 3 servings of fruit. The snacks come in the flavors:
Applemon: apple and organic cinnamon
Bananamon: organic banana and organic cinnamon
Carnaval Mix: organic banana, organic pineapple, apple and papaya
Jivealime: organic pineapple and organic lime juice
MangOJ: mango and orange juice
Pink Pineapple: pineapple and guava
Purple Funk: organic banana and organic acai

The two flavors we enjoyed the most are the Banana varieties. Bananamon (banana and cinnamon) and Purple Funk (bananas and acai). I feel like most kids and adults would enjoy these flavors.

The second flavors we enjoyed are the Applemon (apples and cinnamon), my favorite by far but not the overall of everyone who tried them, and the MangOJ (mango and orange juice).

These three flavors were our least favorite. Although I am sure other people may enjoy the flavors I realize we are not the most adventuress of tasters. We did enjoy eating the pineapple pieces out of the Carnival mix!

These snacks would also be great to take on long trips, camping, for an emergency pack, to donate to families who need food, to send overseas or to college students. The long shelf live allows these snacks to be very useful for long term storing.

You can purchase Funky Monkey Snacks at Target, Whole Foods, Safeway, and online at Amazon.com.

You can play some fun activities on their site or follow them on twitter.

* This post is my own opinion and may vary from other opinions. I was not paid for this post. I was provided the snacks in the pictures for free to take part in this review.
