Alex Toys Little Hands Clay Pictures Review and Giveaway
Alex Toys provides children with quality creative products to help them create and use their imagination through art and various crafts. We got to review the Little Hands Clay Pictures. The set came with 8 colors of clay that never dry out, three 3-D pictures, 3 picture frames and 3 printed background cards. You set up the card behind the picture frame, background card and plastic tray, then you copy the pattern with the correct color of clay in the tray. My son loved all of the bright colored clay and we had fun creating the pattern, the fish was our favorite! This was a fun project and taught my son about patterns and helped him with his fine motor skills. I did have to help him a bit more than I thought I would have to because it said ages 3 and up, but it was still a great art project for us. I love that I can find great places like Alex Toys to find the supplies we need for the types of activities I know my son did while he was in daycare. We can have creative learning at home and I get to be the one to enjoy his finished masterpieces. I look forward to watching him become more of an artist and when his little brother can join in.
Alex Toys are a quality product and we are definitely going to be purchasing more art supplies and crafts from them in the future! The have everything from art supplies, bath toys, craft products, beads and jewelery making, as well as products for babies! Lots of great things to check out for sure!

Here is some information about Alex Toys from the web site:

Disney Movie Sneak Peek: Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure
Coming to DVD and Blue-ray on April 19, 2011 is new Disney movie Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure starring Ashley Tinsdale. This movie is about the character from "High School Musical" Sharpay Evans. The theme of the movie is pursing life long dreams and believing in yourself with all the pink and glitter Sharpay brings! Plus she has her cute little dog. I love when Disney moves have pets in them. I adore my Lab, shes the only other girl in the house so we have to stick together.
This film is rated G so the whole family can enjoy it together. Being in a house of all boys I have to watch cute movies like this by myself but I love them. I have always been a Disney fan and these kind of movies are cheery and cute. I look forward to watching this one and wanted to share the sneak preview of the movie with you, my readers. I know so many of you have girls that will enjoy this one.
Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure has a facebook page so you can stay up to date on the fun of the movie. The twitter handle for the movie is @DisneySharpay.

Curly Girl The Handbook Review and Giveaway 2 Winners
Now that I have had my hair made over and learned to use a flat iron I realize most woman want the hair they don't have. If your hair is straight you want curly. If its thick you want thinner and if its thin you want it thicker. I LOVE the fact that I have curly/wavy hair! I can wear it curly but also with tools have it straight. If it was the other way around it would be harder to go from straight to curly.
There is a great book called Curly Girl The Handbook by Lorraine Massy. Its about a celebration of having curly hair! How you can take care of it, the different types of curls, which for me I had not thought about the variation of curls. There really are so many types of curls. Mine is more wavy down to curls on the bottom. But if I don't use the right conditioners and a blow dryer its curly and frizzy all over. Frizziness is probably the biggest complaint for curly hair. I have tried many things to fix it and some work some don't. I like how the book gives you at home remedies and tips for picking a hair stylist for your curls. I had not considered how a stylist can effect your curly hair. I have always thought as they are cutting it that its going to be shorter than they think since when it dries it curls up. Also how highlighting your can needs to be done with care and consideration of your curls. I loved how it said if you see someone with great curly hair ask them where they get it done, I would so do that!
Another thing I had not considered is if a man has curly hair and the issues he might have. The book touched on that and what types of styles a man could get. Also included is a section on how to get your kids to love their curly hair. I think this would be especially helpful to a mom who doesn't have curly hair but her children do.
This book is really helpful and definitely a celebration of curls! The book is full of facts and tips with a CD included. The CD has step by step instructions on how to cleanse, trim and style your curly hair. This book would be great to give to a teenager with curly hair to realize your curls are awesome and many woman pay lots of money to have curls. We must embrace our hair because it is apart of us!
You can buy this book at Borders or Amazon or better yet win it here!

Ditch the Joneses Book Review
Ditch the Joneses, Discover your Family, How to Thrive on Less than Two Incomes by Cathi Brese Doebler is a book about planning, learning and adapting to living on one income. The author is a Mom who knew before she even had children that she wanted to be a stay at home mom. She and her husband started making plans before her boys were born so that the could survive and thrive on one income. By planning and understanding what it takes she started to do more and more research on others desires to stay home and their struggles. Doebler took this information and started teaching classes to other parents on how they could try to be home with their families more.
In the introduction she says that this book is for parents who:
- Desire to reduce their hours to part-time
- Desire to stay at home full-time
- Desire to explore new ideas with time and financial management
- Desire to consider options while deciding on their family's lifestyle
I really like how she also touches on how to keep your sanity when you do cut your hours or stay home. She reminds you that you cannot do it all and to take time to ease into your new situation. Not to assume now that you are home that you can attack that "to do" list in a week. You are home to raise your children and be there for them, not necessarily there to make sure your house looks like Martha Stewart's house (my words not hers).
This is a great book and resource for parents wanting and hoping to make that leap into a one income family. It is a reminder that we are lucky to be able to stay home and that there are so many others out there that want to be in your shoes. With the right planning and resources in most cases it can be done, this book can help you achieve that goal.
You can buy Ditch the Joneses, Discover your Family, How to Thrive on Less than Two Incomes by Cathi Brese Doebler on Amazon or you can get the Nook Book version at Barnes & Noble.

Im Dont Feel Well. I Want My Mommy!
During our event my son has gotten sick and really had his first cough with a really runny nose. I did not realize how hard it is to be sick myself and take care of my little one. I have been feeling so run down and exhausted. But I had a moment of awareness that made me feel like wow I am lucky he adores me so much that he wants only me to hold him.
I know for me anytime I was sick as a kid I wanted my mom. She didn't have to anything just be in the room or near me. Sometimes when I stayed home form school sick she would get me grapes and french bread, two of my favorite things! It always made me feel better and feel special. Even if I was so sick it made her sick she never complained or wavered in her being my mommy! After I moved out of my parents house if I got sick I would want my mom then too! My sister and I laughed about that today that as adults and moms we still want Mom if we don't feel well.
I want to be that kind of mom to my son. I want him to know that not matter how I feel I am cheery and all his when he needs me. It was about 3 am the other night when I had my moment of awareness. My son and I were both coughing and blowing our noses and he sighed then laid his head on my lap. I ran my hand along his head over and over like a sweet little cat and he feel asleep. That's all he wanted was me to just be there, to be his comfort when he was uncomfortable. Since that night even thought I feel not so good I am being chipper and his hero when his nose is running or he just needs a hug. I forget sometimes I am what he needs, what he wants and who he looks for when he needs something. Its my gift in life to be his hero!
The World of Eric Carle Touch-and-Feel Stroller Cards Review
The World of Eric Carle Touch-and-Feel Stroller Cards are easy to attach touch and feel picture cards for children. Each set has 5 double-sided cards with textures and pictures . It is easy to attach to a your stroller, backpack, or diaper bag. Very cute idea with very cute pictures. The animals include a Sheep, Panda Bear, Fish, Hippo and a Caterpillar! My son loves to touch the animals and I like that he is learning that things have texture. I would recommend this to other parents who have left behind many toys behind because you could not attach them to your stroller or diaper bag! Crafty Mama Book and Brain Quest Review and Giveaway

As a new stay at home mom I am always looking for crafts and projects or tools to help us learn expand our minds. The Crafty Mama Book and Brain Quest did just that for us. Brain Quest are a popular and fun way to teach your children a variety of things in life, they are like flashcards but better. There are connected together at the top and you open them like up and they fan out a paint wheel or a hand fan. Brain Quest caters to all ages, it starts at ages 2-3 all the way up to 12-13. They also have specific subjects like Math, Reading and African American History. My son loves to learn and show me how smart he is. We got out the Brain Quest to see exactly what the cards had on them. The questions were very age appropriate and my son was a genius (of coarse)! The 1st card has the questions and the card to follow shows the answers, it gives your child a visual to and confirmation that they got it right. I loved that! There we such a variety of questions and Molly the Mouse appears throughout the game! It comes with 2 sets per package. We were looking at the next stage of cards that my son would need and I cannot wait to get them for him. I also see that they have workbooks as well, we need those for sure. The Brain Quest Workbooks were the winners of the 2010 Teachers' Choice Award.

Crafty Mama is a craft book by Abby Pecoriello, a stay at home Mom who is super crafty. She started off doing craft projects like bedazzling her daughters T-shirts for fun as a new Mom. Now she gives classes and has published the book Crafty Mama. The book boasts 49 fast, fabulous, foolproof (baby & toddler) projects in this great book. I have to admit I love crafty ideas and I want to be crafty. I really think that my heart is craftier then my crafting abilities. It seems like I may be lacking the ability to craft as well as I would like. As I looked through this book I am seeing how easy it really can be! Each project has pictures and step by step instructions as well as a "rate it" section that tells you the cost, time, skill and How ga-ga they'll go over it and the list of supplies for each project. Easy for the craft impaired like me :) All of the projects are things that anyone would love to make as well as have. A few of my favorites are the tie-dye items, the fleece hats, the easy bows for girls, baby wipes covers, and the hanger covers. They would all be fun projects to do at a play date or even something to do with your older children as a project for the day. Great book with great ideas! I recommend Crafty Mama to everyone who wants to tap into their crafty side!

Zooper High Chair Review
My boys go over to my mom's house at least every other Monday so that I can get things done in peace around here :) My mom is past her "baby" days so she does not have all of the "tools" at her house like we do. When I do take the boys over there, feeding the baby seems to be one of the things that not having the right tools makes things very difficult. Who wants to lug a high chair over there every time and then lug it home? Not me and I know that my Mom does not want a high chair in her dinning room 24/7. At first she tried to feed him in his car seat...boy was that a disaster. Not only was it really not safe, he kept squirming around and twisting that it was impossible for my mom to get anything in his mouth and not his clothes. Even my 4 year old realized the situation and told his grandma, "This is ridiculous!" Children really do not have filters on them do they? haha
We needed a solution to the feeding situation but I also did not want to turn my mom's house into Babyville for one day a week. We knew that we needed a lightweight, compact and easy to store high chair at her house. Our solution was a Zooper High Chair.
The Zooper high chair is a simple compact folding high chair with a built in carry handle that is easy to open into it's full size. Just push one button and it opens into a "regular" size high chair. It is great for babies 6 months to 45 lbs. It opens up into a full size high chair but stores like nothing at all. At first I looked at it and thought there was no way this lightweight thing can hold my giant baby! I opened it up and put him in it so see just how steady it was. I was excited about how well it was made and how safe he really was. My 8 month old is wiggly and busy and it held up great to his wild ways! We took it over to my mom's house and she loved it. After she fed the baby she put it in her coat closet, closed the door and did not worry about it again until the boys came over the next time.
My mom and I are all about clean lines. We agreed that we loved the stylishness and the design of the high chair as well as the fun patterned material. It has such a modern look you can't help but think about how sleek it looks in your house! The Zooper high chair is also really easy to clean and looks great left out or stored in a small space. Opening and closing the high chair is really simple and fast. I really like the convenience and look of the Zooper that I am thinking about replacing my bulky (but still in good condition) high chair with one of these babies!!
We are now fans of the Zooper brand! They make several types of strollers including a two seated one. You can learn more about their products by following them on Twitter or becoming a Facebook fan.

Friendship Bread Book Review
Friendship Bread
By Darien Gee
Sometimes a book comes along that stays in your thoughts for days or weeks after you've finished reading it. Darien Gee has written just that kind of a novel. Her story of loving friendships, family, and small town life is enchanting. At the heart of this story is something called Friendship Bread. Julia Evarts receives a gift of this bread and it amazingly changes her life. She is still grieving terribly over the death of her son, five years earlier. By the simple act of baking and sharing the bread with others, friendships are made and hearts are mended. The author also includes a recipe for baking a loaf of you own Friendship Bread. This book is warm, wise, and lovely. It brings back what reading a good book is all about. Pure pleasure.
You can buy this book for your own library at Barnes and Noble.

HIT Entertainment Pop Goes Thomas and Barney Mother Goose DVD Review and Giveaway
My son has loved trains for a while now. He can say Choo-Choo and points to the trains when we drive by them near out house. We bought him a Thomas the Train birthday cake for his 1st Birthday and he plays with the train that came on his cake all the time. He has a few pairs of Thomas the Train pjs and a train set is on my list of things I want to get him for his birthday later in the year. Barney on the other hand is something I thought I would not have him watch but I have learned what I like and what he likes are soooo not the same. I actually love him watching Barney. I have found being a mom all the stuff I thought "Oh when I have kids I wont do this or that" has quickly gone out the window lol. He really does get excited for Barney! A few months back we were watching a Barney show and the battery on my computer that we were watching the DVD on went out. OH that boy was so upset! He cried and cried until I got it started in the DVD player and TV. It was so cute to see him cheer right up and dance around as Barney sang. I enjoy that Barney is teaching him and having fun. He really likes that there are real children in the shows too. He points to them and smiles.
Watching Thomas with his Thomas Pjs and toy.
The Pop Goes Thomas DVD is full of valuable lessons that Thomas and his friends learn. They learn about responsibility and trying to do too much in one day. Definitely one I could learn from too! I liked the episode about Sir Topham Hat's mother comes to visit the trains and how she teaches Thomas that just because she is older doesn't not mean she won't like excitement and fun. I really love how Thomas the Train teaches children lessons about life in a fun way. I like all the different personalities of the trains just like how all of us are so unique.
Clapping for Thomas the Train.
Coloring in his Barney coloring book that came with the DVD
Barney Mother Goose Collection DVD includes a DVD, a music CD and a coloring book. I really enjoyed how classic stories I know from when I was little were incorporated into Barney's world of characters. I sang along and clapped with my little guy as we watched it. I was sitting on the floor with him and he climbed into my lap and we watched together. It was very sweet! The excitement and dancing of Barney is what my son likes the most. He loves to dance! I know this DVD will be watched over and over. I put it on while I had some house cleaning to do and he did not even notice I was busy. He just danced and watched.
He had to sit on his jet ski while he watched Barney.
HIT Entertainment produces Thomas the Train and Barney as well as many more fun characters like Bob the Builder and Angelina Ballerina. You can check out their website for fun games and videos. Target and Walmart carry the DVDs to buy and you also have a chance to win them on this blog!

Walmart Clearance Pajamas and A Not So Happy Superman
Only $3 for Thomas Jammies!
On Thursday we went to Walmart just to get out of the house. It has been raining and so gloomy. I browsed through the Clearance section and found so many cute pajamas at a really cheap price. In November we bought all of our winter clothes and pjs and my son wore a size 12 months. Since then he has definitely gotten taller and his pajamas do not fit. I thought I would not find any thicker pjs since the spring clothing is now out but I was lucky. I found the cutest Thomas the Train pjs for $3.00!! I was so excited because my little guy loves Thomas! I also found a pair for only $1, they had snow flakes in the design since I am sure they were from the holiday season but for $1 I bought them.
One of the coolest finds were the Superman and Batman footed pjs for only $3 each. I was so jazzed that I found them. My husband has been wanting to get him super hero jammies but we could not find any on his size at a reasonable price. These were definitely a good find. He looks so cute in them and runs around the house so happy. I think he knows hes a super hero!
He would not let me take them off to go to the grocery store so I just let him wear it with his coat on over them. A few noticed him and were saying "Hello Batman!" My son loved the attention and smiles and waved to the kids. He loves other kids and yells "BaBe" when he sees them. It was really cute and fun to see him soak up all the attention while we out.
Today he is sick and has a little bit of a cough. He is wearing his Superman jammies and is a not so happy Superman. He looks so miserable being sick but smiles when he points to his pjs. I know he will get better soon and go back to the happy Superman he was last night.
Before Superman had his cold!
We also found a Toy Story 3 tshirt for $1 and a few plain tshirts. There were Tinkerbell and Dora the explorer for little girls too.
If your in Walmart anytime soon be sure to check out the clearance section and even scan a few items to see if they are cheaper. The items that were a dollar were not marked that cheap so you never know with clearance items!

Larry Gets Lost in Seattle and Seattle ABC Book Review and Giveaway

We love books in our family. I come from a long line of readers, I think you can call it a family trait! We love living in the Seattle area and when we got these books about Seattle we were ecstatic! Larry gets Lost in Seattle and Seattle ABC are written by John Skewes and Robert Schwartz both live in Washington, John in Seattle and Robert in Edmonds. Sasquatch Books publishes the Larry gets Lost books and Larry also gets lost in other cities too.
Larry Gets Lost in Seattle is about Pete and his dog Larry. They take a trip to Seattle, they start by taking the Washington state ferry, get into Seattle and hit every landmark on the way. There are so many great things to see like the Pike Place Market (where they famously throw fish), the Space Needle, the Seattle Art Museum and much more! While looking for Pete, Larry enjoys all of the great scenery Seattle has to offer and the book gives you little tidbits for each landmark. A fun read for sure!Seattle ABC is another great book about the great city of Seattle. Again Larry and Pete are cruising around the city this time looking for all of the letters in the alphabet while exploring at the same time. They go from the Seattle Aquarium for A to the Woodland Park Zoo for Z and see the Orcas, Houseboats and Monorail on the way. These books were great not only for the stories but were also a learning tool for my 4 year old. It taught him about this great city we live in. I also got a kick out of knowing that this was "our" city they were talking about. We go to Seattle quite often and forget about all of the history it has to offer.
We tend to forget that Seattle has been a round for such and long time and really does have a lot to offer. My son was so excited when we took a recent trip to the Pike Place Market and he knew that Larry (the dog) had also been there! Seattle ABC and Larry Gets Lost in Seattle are great books and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Even if you don't live in Seattle you would enjoy reading these books to your children, it give them the knowledge of other cities out there in the world and knowledge is power!

Sprig Toys Dump Truck Review
This year more than ever we have been trying to find eco-friendly products for our son to play with. I want him to have toys that encourage his imagination too. Sprig Toys does both of those things! I have wanted to get my son a dump truck since he was born. To me they say boy and rugged. I did not want to get him a really big one or one made of metal since he is still little. The Sprig Eco Dump Truck was perfect for him.
As soon as I took it out of the mailing box he went wild! He was jumping up and down and grabbing for it. I had to open it as fast as I could so he would calm down. The second I handed it to him to took off and started making it drive by putting his hands on the top of the truck. He was giggling and having so much fun! It melted my heart to see him filled with so much joy! My husband even said to me he was surprised how much he liked it since we have never really showed him trucks or how to even play with one. He loved putting stuff into the back of the truck. He has not figured out how to use the dumping part of the truck yet but that will come in time. He puts his sipppy cup in the back of the truck and drives it around. When he gets thirsty he picks up the truck with the sippy in it and drinks it with the truck on it. It cracks me up so much!
We want to get him the Eco Truck Loader to go with it when he gets a little bigger. Sprig Toys carries way more than just trucks. They have Adventure sets with dinosaurs, Sprig Hollow with cute little characters and Story Builder play sets. I think the farm play set is really cute! Sprig Toys is now apart of the Wham-O family of products and I know this will be great for Sprig with great new things to come for the brand. Wham-O makes Slip N Slides, Hacky Sacks, Hula Hoops and many more classic toys.
We are twitter followers of Sprig Toys and Wham-O so we can stay up to date about new products. You can be one too!
Facebook for Sprig Toys and Wham-O is a great place to read about sales and news for the awesome toys they make. You can also place pictures of your kids playing with their toys on the wall. I know I will be putting my little guy playing with his truck on there. He looks soooo cute!
