Progresso Soups New You Review and Giveaway

This year I declared I will not be on one of those commercial diet plans that require me to sign up and pay them for food or advise. I have lost weight on my own before size 24 to size 10 just simply by of course daily exercise and making smarter food choices. If it means I can't just eat anything to be healthy that's fine by me.

I always am weary of new "diet" foods since often times they are full of artificial sweeteners or other ingredients I have never heard of. Thankfully there are foods that have been on the market a long time and actually taste good. Like Progresso soup!

I have always been a fan of soup. Its easy to heat up and makes you feel all warm and comfy when you eat it. My two favorite soups are the Santa Fe Style Chicken and the Beef Pot Roast.
They are filling but only 80 calories per serving. They make a great lunch or pair with a sandwich for dinner. I love to have the zesty Santa Fe Style soup with a grilled cheese sandwich, especially on a rainy day like today.

When the package arrived with our soup and workout gear for us to review my husband immediately declared dibbs on the clam chowder. For a minute I was going to challenge his declaration until I read the label. It contains shrimp and crab which I am allergic to. I love that the label was clear and in bold letters what it contained as far as allergens. Thank you Progresso for the labels!

The soup was all great and the workout gear we received was awesome. The kit included a yoga mat, a water bottle, headband, and aerobic bands. This was so great because my son has been doing the cutest thing ever! When I get on the floor to do sit ups he gets down there with me and does his baby version of them. He sits down puts his legs straight out and bends over at the waist and grunts when he does them. It is just the silliest and sweetest thing ever! Lately he has been trying to push me off the workout mat so he can do his sit ups on it like mommy does. When I got out the yoga mat My Blog Spark sent in our kit his little eyes lit up and he clapped. I rolled it out for him, put on the headband and he started his workout. It was so adorable. I am thankful he is mimicking a good habit like working out. He also tried the veggies from my soup and loved them! He always wants to be doing what his Mama does and I love it!

The Work Out Baby!

Right now Progresso Soup is having a Facebook Contest called Souper You. I have entered it and encourage other soup fans to as well. I plan on replacing my lunches with a less than 100 calorie soup! I am sure this will effortlessly help me lose weight.

Silence is not always Golden

Have you ever heard the saying"Silence is Golden". I know it can mean different things in situations, I used to say it all the time before I had a baby. The sound of nothing but just a few faint birds in the distance was so soothing to me. Now I have learned as a mom that silence means someone is up to something! Last night while I was folding laundry in the living room I noticed I did not hear the wildness of my son. Usually he is banging on something, squealing about something or just yelling as loud as he can then laughing for fun. I looked down the hall to see he had opened his bedroom door and then his closet door. Before this he was not able to open doors so I had not worried about him running up and down the hall. I went into his room and found that he had torn the pages out of several books. I gasped, since books are like gold to me lol. He stood up and handed me one like he does when he wants me to read one. I figured it was my fault about the books so I scooped him up and read him the book with the missing pages and had to make up the parts that were no longer there.
Lesson learned silence means hes up to something! We went to Babies R Us this morning and purchased the door handle covers that make it so he can't open doors anymore. I highly recommend them if you have a curious little one like I do.

Monkey Brains Oatmeal and Granola Bars Review

I have heard a lot about the new products out there containing prebiotics and wondered if they tasted good. I love to be healthy but hey its gotta taste good too! Thankfully I had one of my readers tell me about a company Monkey Brains. They make Oatmeal and Granola Bars. Monkey Brains products do not contain HFCS, preservatives or additives, basically its real food!

We had the opportunity to try all the products they make and we loved them. Of course we each had our favorites in the house. The fact that the logo is a wild monkey made my husband and I laugh since our little boy is one. We have monkey costumes, monkeys on his clothes, a monkey pillow pet and his favorite fruit is bananas. I knew these snacks were for us!

After I took this I cut up into tiny pieces for him to enjoy.

We first tried the Monkey Granola Bars. We had them for dessert the night they arrived in the mail. My son LOVED the blueberry vanilla bars. He ate one and guzzled down some milk and gestured for more. Thankfully the bars are low in sugar so I could have one of each and my favorite was the Banana Peanut Butter Chocolate. It was so good! My husband thought they were a little rich and said they should make a banana nut flavor. He liked the Strawberry Vanilla the best. Good thing they make different varieties since we all have such different taste preferences in our house! As I type this review my son is munching on a Strawberry Vanilla Bar and it smells so good!

The next morning for breakfast we enjoyed Monkey Brains Oatmeal. Again I made one of each so we could all see which ones we liked best. My little boy is a great little review since he wanted more of some flavors and others he did not want more of. Of course he loved the blueberry oatmeal, he eats everything blueberry! Suprisingly he liked the Raspberry flavor, he usually won't eat raspberry anything. I liked the Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal the best and have had it for breakfast everyday this past week. My husband agreed with out little guy on blueberry being his favorite oatmeal. I gave a sample pack to my mother in law and she enjoyed all the strawberry ones the most.

The best part is I can tell my son not to monkey around when he is eating them, it seems to crack me up so much. Thankfully I tossed a few bars into our diaper bag because we were out and about yesterday and I was getting a headache from not eating enough and after one Monkey Bar I was feeling better and was able to continue on our errands for the day! I would recommend getting these tasty snacks and oatmeal for the little and big monkeys in your life!

Monkey Brains offers a sample pack on their website with one of each of the granola bars and oatmeal flavors for $1 plus the cost of shipping. A great way to try it before you buy a whole box.

You can find Monkey Brains Granola Bars and Oatmeal at Whole Foods, Krogers, Food Lion and online at their website. They are coming soon to many more stores. If you shop online you can save 10% on purchases over $15.00 by using the code "Friends".

If you would like to keep up on sales and discounts or other Monkey business you can follow them on twitter or facebook.

Why So Many Prescription Drug Commercials?

Lately it seems there are so many prescription drug commercials for depression and anxiety. Maybe the weather has me watching more tv and I now see them more but I hate it to so much. The tone of the anti depressant commercials seem to make my son instantly stop anything he is doing and stare at the tv. We now change the channel if it comes on because it bothers me so much to see him stare at it. He can be playing not even noticing the tv and as soon as the horrible tune of the song starts he whips his head around to see. I just don't get it. I wonder what kinda of research went into the type of music that is played in the background of these commercials. I wonder if its some strange subliminal message. I don't mean to seem weird about it I just do not like the tv constantly advertising medicine to me. I know I can just turn off the tv but I know that won't happen in our house lol. Thankfully we have a lot of DVDs so I think we will start watching those more often than tv.
What is your opinion on these commercials? Do you think they will ever stop like how they had to stop with the tobacco commercials?

Social Kiddo Card Kit Review and Giveaway

Kiddo Tags makes name labels and stickers as well as Mommy cards. Mommy cards are a cute idea and a fun way to let other Mom's know who you are in a memorable and stylish way. They have several different styles to choose from and I picked the Blue Polka Dot. The Social Kiddo Kit includes personalized Mommy Cards, Stickers, Kiddo Note pad for notes and 1 mini sharpie.

I put my name, my 2 boys names, our phone number and my email address. I love that you can give out your basic information is such a fun way. I took my cards with me to a Superbowl party where I knew that I was going to meet new Mom's and thought it was a good opportunity to see how people responded to them. My girlfriends thought that they were a great idea and wanted to know where they could get their own. I also dropped a card in one of those little buckets that restaurants have where you can win a free lunch, you know where you put your business card in and they draw your name?

It has all the info they need and being a Mom to these boys is my business/job! They come with a nice leather looking pouch with a little marker for any notes that you may need to take or write down. Mommy cards are not something that I thought I needed, but now that I have them I am wondering how I lived without them.

GIVEAWAY:
You can WIN your very own Personalized Social Kiddo Kit . There are so many cute designs and the winner will get to choose the design they want.

Great Customer Services Makes a Company Great

I always love it when a product I enjoy is made by a company that offers great customer service. The same can also be said of a company with poor customer service and why I do not enjoy shopping there ( can I say Walmart!)

Thankfully I have more positive stories of great customer service then negative ones. I have had two really great experiences with two companies I want to share with you. I know for me sometimes if I review something or win it for free I feel like maybe I wont bring up an issue since I got it for free. But I have realized that is what companies want, feedback so they can fix problems!

Recently I had an issue with my KinderGlo so I emailed the company about it. They were so awesome about it and immediately send me a replacement light for my son. He is so cute he grabbed it and gave it a hug when I took it out of the package. He has been a bit of a mess since I had to take away his other KinderGlo. I am so glad tonight he will have his favorite light show soothing him to sleep.

The other company I had a great experience with is Milson Road. They make personalized commemorative framed gifts. I won a framed portrait gift on another mom blog and ordered one for my sons birth with a picture of him only a few days old. The commemorative portrait was wonderful. I smiled so big and almost cried tears of joy. It had a newspaper like page announcing my sons birth with personal info I had them add. It had top movies for the year, his astrological sign, political events, historical events and so much more!
Then as I was reading the historical section I gasped! On the print was a tragic event that happened on the day my son was born, it was the Jonestown suicides. I cried so much, I was so sad that my beautiful picture I planned on hanging up in honor of my son had such a sad sad event on it.
I thought to myslef this needs to be fixed even if I received it for free. After all I would be bad advertising if I told a ton of people about my bad experience.  I emailed them and they completely understood how upset I was and told me its a random selection of what appears on the page. Thankfully they fixed it and sent me a new framed commemorative framed portrait and I am a happy mom!

I would like to encourage moms to at least email a company if you are unhappy about a product or service to not only have it fixed for you but to also help the company to improve their company.

* A note to my sister---- Have you emailed about the diapers yet lol

Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves Review and Giveaway

I love to bake! I do not really cook that often but if its cookies, cakes, or cupcakes I am all over it. It reminds me of how Rachael Ray can cook but says she can't bake. When I do bake I cannot seem to get the fancy decorations that I see in books and on other blogs. When I heard about Roundabouts Cupcake Decorations I thought I should have invented that! Thankfully another mom has and theses are great. They are very detailed in the printing and looks so real!

I was able to review the hamburger sleeves for my Valentine's event and they turned out great! I used a butterscotch frosting to get the light brown color of a bun and white sprinkles to make it look like sesame seeds. The site has a huge selection of sleeves like food items, baby shower themed, weddings, and more. Some of my favorites were of course the hamburgers, the ice cream cone, gumball machine and the popcorn tub that you can place mini marshmallows on top to make it look real. There are so many fun and cute ideas on the website.

Picture from the Roundabouts website

Sadly my husband unintentionally deleted my pictures! I was a bit upset since I felt like these were my master pieces and the coolest cupcakes I have made. But they were deleted while we were at the duck pond feeding the ducks with my son and there was no more space on the memory card. My husband flipped through the pics and deleted the cupcake pics and some other reviews I had taken pictures of.
I couldn't really be upset with anyone other than me, he didn't know they were reviews since I normally download them immediately after taking them and it was to capture sweet moments of our son.

Thankfully I still get to tell you about how great they are and give one of my lucky readers a set of their own!

Medela Breast Milk Labeling and Storage System Review and Giveaway

Medela is a popular brand of breastfeeding products. They have been supporting breastfeeding Mom's and babies for over 25 years. There are many products to choose from, and recently they set me a Medela breast milk labeling & storage system to review.

Now when I first received the box I thought, Wow they have really thought of everything haven't they? I think the labeling and storage system is not something you think you might need (at least I didn't) but when you do have the option to use something like this it really helps out. Honestly I was just sticking my breast milk in the fridge a little out of order, kind of wherever it fit amongst the cheese and yogurt. Not a good idea for a Mom who is always on the go and needs all of the organizing help she can get. What I liked about the Medela system is that it is an easy concept and is 100% reusable as well as dishwasher safe. The tray is U shaped and compact, it comes with 2 breast milk bottles and 2 labeling lids. You just twist the lid on the bottle to whatever day of the week it is and rotate them out as you use them. What I did was just take the bags of milk that I had just pumped and tucked them in the tray according to date, as you use one just slide the rest to the front. Again a simple idea and so handy.

All of Medela's baby feeding and storage bottles are BPA free. This would make a great baby shower present because a new Mom may not think about needing to store and label her breast milk. You can save your girlfriend a lot of time and energy by giving her this great system.

GIVEAWAY:
You can WIN your very own Breast Milk Labeling and Storage System from Medela on this blog. This would be great to win for yourself or a friend!

ebeanstalk.com Website Review

Toys are the one thing most kids will love as a gift. From birth to about 12 years old most fun things you will buy for your kids are toys. I know for me there are a few toys I can really remember that were special to me. Having a great place to find all the toys you need is a useful tool.
Ebeanstalk.com has tons of great toys with lots of useful navigation to make toy shopping quick and easy. Shopping online can be so much easier than dealing with crowds, limited stock issues and no one around to help with what toy is best for the child you are shopping for.

For a birthday party for my husband's cousin daughter we have been looking for toys for 3 year old girls. Since I have a son I wasn't sure if I should go the dolly route or find something more unique for her. The website made great recommendations on what to buy for her. It made it super easy to find her the perfect gift.

For my 4 year old nephew I found many learning toys that would be great for him to have. He is no longer in day care and I know he still needs the stimulation that some of their toys offer. I liked that the site bundled a few toys together by category. The Mom's Choice pack included two toys that I would love for my nephew to have. The Take Apart 4x4 Truck looks so cool. I actually seen it in a store today so I thought it was great the site offered it in a bundle pack. The Teaching Telephone is in the bundle pack as well. My little nephew always wants to talk on the phone when his mom does so this would be perfect for him!

The selection of baby gifts was very impressive. I found a lot of toys I have not seen in stores. My other nephew is 7 months old and I would love to buy him all the toys! I know for me when my son was a baby it was hard to tell people what to get him because I was a new mom and didn't really know what he needed. I like how the site says under the toy how many months the child should be to play with it. Its very useful. A few toys I really would love to get for my baby nephew are Crawl and Go Snail and the Fold and Go Deluxe Play Mat for when he is at Nana and Papas house.

Overall I really liked the easy navigation of the site. I also liked the age recommendations to make shopping for any kid much easier!

** I was not paid for this post. I may in the future have the opportunity to review an item from ebeanstalk.com

Opposites Day!

There is an odd effect my son and dog have on people. They always seem to tell me how "beautiful my little girl is" and how "handsome and rugged" my dog is. Well my baby is a boy and my dog is a girl!! It cracks me up and has happened so many times I have stopped correcting people. The dog wears a pink collar and my son is always in blue, brown or orange. I suppose its a compliment I have a pretty boy and hardy looking dog but when will it end! My husband took our son to dinner and everyone told him how sweet it was he was out with his little girl. He corrected a few people but then he gave up. I told him it happens to me too so we just need to laugh about it.
Do people do this to your children as well?

EcoMom Green Toys Blocks Review

The other day I was not feeling so well and struggling to keep my boys busy for the day. Early in the morning the delivery man came and brought us what my son calls "a special delivery". We opened the box from EcoMom and our Green Toys Blocks were inside. Let me say that my 4 year old loves to build and create so these were right up his alley. In the box there were 18 over sized and lightweight blocks in 4 different colors. I kid you not he built, crashed and rebuilt creations the rest of the day. After a while he decided that he would allow (we are learning to share with the baby around here) his little brother to share in the fun.

My 7 month old was able to pick up the lightweight blocks and loved the idea that they could play together. I really liked that they appealed to my little guy as well as my big guy; these blocks are great for all ages. They are durable and are easy to stack and unstack for little hands.

A few facts about Green Toys; they are made from 100% recycled plastic and have no BPA, PVC or phthalates. On the box it says: Green Toys products are made from 100% recycled plastic. This saves energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and minimizes our carbon footprint.

I love being and feeling “green” so these are a great way to join the Earth-friendly parents out there. Green Toys are going to be played with a lot around this house for sure. We look forward to discovering more great toys by Green Toys from EcoMom.

You can purchase your very own set of Green Toy Blocks at EcoMom.com.

EcoMom has great deals and special sales all the time. If you follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook you can find discount codes and sales info.

** I was not paid for this post. The opinions are 100% mine and may vary from others. I received one free set of blocks from EcoMom.com for this review.

Gorton's Seafood Bowl Contest

Gorton's Seafood is having another awesome contest! I am totally going to entered this one. You will need a picture of a your seafood game day creation to enter. You can enter by clicking here
If I had a year supply of seafood I would be in heaven. As a kid I would only eat tuna out of a can, taste good to a kid yes but not ideal.  I am sooooo thankful my son LOVES seafood. He will eat all the fish I give him. Lately all he will eat is Gorton's fish sticks. Which is fine by me since it is healthy for him.

The contest will be to win:
Twice-A-Week-Gorton's Seafood package! That's 104 FREE Gorton's Products ~ a $624 Value!
Contest ends February 11, 2011 so enter those fish pics soon!

Enter to win by uploading a photo of your Game Day Seafood dish for a chance to win!
You can get recipe ideas for your picture on the site here.

For the Super Bowl I am going to make my little guy fish tacos! I know he will love it. Then I will upload my photo to enter the contest. Or I might try the fish stick pizzas!

From the Gorton's site not my entry =)
