I suppose if we were going to dress up our new pup for Halloween this is not a bad price for a Disney costume. Is it me or does that dog look miserable?
Already scoping out the Christmas decorations? Love this Lenox ornament, it even has five bells to represent the five people in my not-so-little family!
Last weekend my family and I went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo CA for Halloween Fright Fest. It was such a FUN day! I thought since it was fright fest that it would be too much for my son but they day was filled with family friendly events.
For kids there is a Twick or Tweat area for candy, meeting Looney Toons characters, picture opportunities and fun pumpkin patch with a maze. My son loved it all.
The classic dolphins in the fountain were replaced with spooky creatures and the fountain water was dyed red for a creepy and fun look. There were all sorts of spooky and some creepy Halloween displays all over. We even saw a few witches!
I will say when the day turned into night it was a wild and spooky place! Funny enough my son fell asleep in his stroller at 7:30 as we were pushing him back to the Looney Toons area to ride the carousal. I am glad he did though! The place began to fill with spooky fog, zombies and monsters were lurking about and the Fright Fest was fully underway!! I did see tons of kids there, many getting scared as Halloween is intended and they all had smiles on their faces. We did a little bit of shopping before the 8:30 pm Halloween themed Dolphin show. All day my son had asked to see the dolphins and now he was sleeping like a rock!
But as soon as the music started for the Dolphin show my son woke up and said Dolphins! I am so glad he woke up to see the fun show. We loved it!! The show was so action packed my camera did not get any good shots but I got a fun clip to share.
We saw a fun Sea Lion show, penguins up close ( Happy Feet as my son says) and the super cool Tigers. My son so made me laugh when the Tiger splashed the audience he said "No Cat Cat You Stop That" so funny!
We rode a ton of rides! My son loved it. We went into the Butterfly house that was closed last time we went and it was amazing. My son was trying to grab them and then karate chop them so our trip in there was a quick one but still so wonderful.
If you live in Nor Cali or planning a visit during the weekend of October Six Flags Fright Fest is a fun experience!

Having a reliable home phone is important to me. Many people have their cell phone as the go to phone but for me I like to have my cell as for emergencies or to talk to family. For work, blogging and things for my son I like to have the home for that. Its always on ready to answer a message and it cant get lost or broken like my cell phone, which it does often lol. When I wanted to get a new phone for the house I went with a brand I have had since my first duplex I moved into when I moved out on my own, Vtech. I had a super cool purple one that worked for many years. But now I need an adult phone that is super functional and sleek looking.
I selected the Vtech Two Handset DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Phone with One DECT 6.0 Cordless Headset, Push-To-Talk & HD Audio for my home phone. Its perfect to be able to conduct business on for my family and blog. It has an awesome headset so I can type and talk (multi tasking is a must!) and it has HD audio so I can hear people clearly. Very unprofessional to say "huh or what" on a business call since people often have cell phones that can be unclear, this phone makes it much clearer to hear. The answering machine is great and easy to turn off the ringer like when my son is napping.
I think this would also make a great gift for family members. I know my mother in law could use one of these. So many people have out dated phones. Having two handsets makes it easier for my to answer the phone from my office rather than having to go to the kitchen.
My two favorite functions are Voice Announce® Caller ID
Audibly announces the name of the caller on all handsets and
the base unit. No need to find the handset to see who's calling—making
screening calls that much easier.
Push-to-Talk
No more shouting through the house—this system doubles as a
multiple-handset walkie-talkie to instantly communicate with any or all
of the units in your home. I can see these coming in handy to tell my husband dinner is ready from the other room. Plus its an Energy Star labeled phone!
Backlit keypad and display
Expandable up to 12 devices (2 devices can be cordless headsets) with only one phone jack
DECT 6.0 Digital technology

JJ and I at Six Flags while on vacation this summer.
Every morning since school started this fall I have take my kindergartener to school. I get out of the car and walk him to his class, remind him to turn in his homework and we say our good byes (no kiss, he is too grown for that now don't you know). Yesterday morning we saw JJ's little school friend walking from the "drop off" spot right in front of the school to class. I asked JJ if he wanted to walk with his friend. He told me he wanted to walk with him and me to class. So we all walked to class together.
This morning we saw his friend again in the same spot. JJ was so excited to see him and squealed with excitement, he had made an official real friend cause they walked to class together yesterday. Five year old's are so funny! I asked him again today if he wanted to walk with his friend to class. And he told me YES. Ahhh!! I know I have been prompting him to ditch me and shouldn't be surprised when he wanted to, but still. He is my baby and him walking away with his friend, leaving me standing there was a huge step towards independence in my eyes. So we said our quick good bye's and he walked off with his new friend, the two of them side by side.
At that point as I watched him walking away he suddenly looked taller, older and down right cooler to me. And I ached for that baby boy of mine. I want to keep his little sweet and innocent self and store it in a bottle for safe keeping. Silly really, I know. I didn't even cry when I dropped him off the first day of school, but here I was crying like a baby on a random Thursday in the parking lot of the Elementary school that my baby is now attending. This growing up thing has been a little bit hard for me to swallow. But with every milestone I am seeing JJ grow into this sweet, independent, confident kid and it is awesome.
