Frugal Shopping: Sears Clearance Rack

I cannot help that I am a bargain shopper, I see a deal and I have to buy stuff! I will buy something at full price if its something I want or need right then but often times I wait for a sale. For my birthday in July I got a really cute skirt from Sears. I told myself I should go back and see if they were on sale yet before all the summer clothing is gone. Living in Cali we can wear skirts and short sleeves even into November so now is the time to get a great deal.

I went to my local Sears and saw so much Clearance it was awesome! I told myself only $25 for this shopping trip, if I had not I am sure $50 or more would have been spent. I want to go back later in the week too in hopes things are still there that I wanted. I have been shopping for clothing I can wear to work and found cute skirt, shirt and dress pants for $23.66! I had my Sears/Kmart Rewards card so I was earning points and received an additional 15% off my purchase. Yippy!!

At regular price my total would have been $80 plus tax. Many of the Clearance items at Sears are 50% - 70% off. There were a ton of cute colorful skirts and shirts too.

What great end of Season Shopping Deals have you found recently??

National Clean Out Your Garage Day Kit Review and Giveaway

My cleaning helper! He is always willing to help out.

Have a clean and organized home is something that makes my life easier. Being a mom I need to know where things are at in my home to make the most of my time. Nothing is a time taker than looking for lost items in a messy room. Having the right products makes cleaning and organizing your home much easier.

One room in your home that most people neglect is the garage. You garage can be a great place to use for more than a place to park the car or store boxes in. So many people use their garage as a work space, work shop, work out area and so much more. Keeping the garage clean and organized will help you utilize the full potential of your space.

Clean Out Your Garage Kit

This month on September 8th was National Clean Out Your Garage Day. This day reminds us to clean up the garage and make it a more functional space. The garage is one of those spaces on my to do list but I always seem to just stick stuff out there and not organize it. What can be more of a motivator than having the right items to do so.

I am embarrassed how disorganized my own garage is! I think by posting this picture and seeing how truly messy it is will be my reminder that even though National Clean Out Your Garage Day has passed its never too late to clean up and get organized.

To celebrate Clean Out Your Garage Day I will be hosting a giveaway for a Clean Out Your Garage Kit.

This kit includes:
  • Crawford 16” Adjustable Storage Organizer: Designed for use anywhere in your home, garage, workshop, tool shed or basement, this system is great for hanging brooms, rakes and other lawn supplies.
  • Crawford Sliding Spring Grip Organizer: Grips slide into position anywhere along the bar for maximum use. Guaranteed to never lose tension, the grips can hold hardware, garden tools, shovels and more.
  • Quickie 2-in-1 Squeegee Pushbroom: This 2-in-1 pushbroom is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Effortlessly sweep away dirt and debris or use the built-in professional-grade squeegee to push away excess water.
  • ACE Multi-surface Pushbroom: This durable pushbroom is perfect for sweeping heavy debris, including caked-on dirt, gravel and construction materials.

I like the red bristles on this brush.  It works great on tough messes in the garage.

Sylvan Dell Publishing: Thank You for the Donation

My family has been Sylvan Dell Publishing fans since we first read The Giraffe Who was Afraid of Heights by David Ufer over a year ago. Since then we have enjoyed reading the cute titles about animals, the solar system, eco-system and more. The illustrations are always colorful.

This month I participated in the Champions for Kids Nickelodeon Big Help Book Drive to donate books to the Roseville Home Start Program. Since I knew my son enjoyed the books by Sylvan Dell I knew the kids in the transitional housing program would too. Sylvan Dell gladly gave us books to donate for our book drive. I know the kids that received the books will treasure them!

My son was so excited to see all the books we were sent to add to our book drive donation. He held up the two he thought were the coolest, he said "Wow Cool". It made me smile a little to myself since the two he liked were the ones that to me seemed California related, earthquakes and oceans!

Sylvan Dell Publishing sent 4 great titles:

Water Beds: Sleeping in the Ocean - "Tuck your little ones into bed with this soothing, restful story. How do marine mammals - animals that breathe air - sleep in the deep waters of the ocean? Water Beds: Sleeping in the Ocean answers this question. Youngsters meet ten marine mammals, including sea otters and bottlenose dolphins, manatees and harbor seals, humpback whales and walruses, and learn about each animal's unique habits. Although the brief portraits are based on up-to-date scientific research, author Gail Langer Karwoski weaves the facts into simple, poetic language. Connie McLennan's rich oil paintings capture the ocean's habitats and its appealing creatures. The story invites children to drift into a peaceful sleep on the gentle waves of imagination."

Panda's Earthquake Escape"Pandas' Earthquake Escape is a fictional story based on a real-life event. In real life, XiXi, a Giant panda did escape from the destroyed Wolong Panda Reserve when the 7.9 earthquake rocked Northern China on May 12, 2008. Author Phyllis Perry uses the adventures of a mother panda, LiLing, and her one year old cub, Tengfei, to teach children about earthquakes, animal survival, and to reinforce a mother's instinct to protect her child. After the quake, mother and cub run from the wreckage. Confused and afraid, they get lost! How will they survive outside their reserve? Will they find food? Will they find shelter? And will they safely endure the earthquake after-shocks? There is something to be learned from every natural disaster, and LiLing and Tengfei give children an opportunity to see it through their eyes. With the help of Susan Detwiler's vivid illustrations, author Phyllis Perry uses a factual event to teach children about earthquakes and animal survival."

The Rainforest Grew All Around -  "Imaginations will soar from the forest floor, up through the canopy and back down again, following the circle of life. The jungle comes alive as children learn about the wide variety of creatures lurking in the lush Amazon rainforest in this clever adaptation of the song "The Green Grass Grew All Around." Search each page to find unique rainforest bugs and butterflies hiding in the illustrations. Delve even deeper into the jungle using sidebars and the "For Creative Minds" educational section, both filled with fun facts about the plants and animals, how they live in the rainforest and the products we use that come from the rainforest."

The Glaciers Are Melting! - "Chicken Little may have thought the sky was falling but Peter Pika is sure the glaciers are melting and is off to talk to the Mountain Monarch about it. Joined along the way by friends Tammy Ptarmigan, Sally Squirrel, Mandy Marmot, and Harry Hare, they all wonder what will happen to them if the glaciers melt. Where will they live, how will they survive? When Wiley Wolverine tries to trick them, can the Mountain Monarch save them? More importantly, can the Mountain Monarch stop the glaciers from melting?"

Firmoo Glasses Review

Recently I received a Firmoo black pair of RX Sunglasses and have found them very useful as well as stylish. Firmoo has both men and women's eyewear including prescription as well as non prescription and prescription sunglasses. I ordered these women's non prescription full frame wrap around plastic sunglasses as shown in the pictures below.

These sunglasses have become apart of my everyday apparel. They are very lightweight and the arms of them are slim yet feel extremely sturdy. The design of the glasses are very chic looking being all black with tasteful metal work on the side to add a little glam.  The tint of the glasses are a grey/black instead of brown which is nice because everything you see isn't tinted yellow. You can easily see through them, which also means people can still see your eyes. Here are a few pictures of them on.

Here in Washington we are known for constantly buying sunglasses because of the sporadic weather and often losing them before the next sunny day comes. I am going to take excellent care of my Firmoo glasses and have them for a long time. Did I also mention they came nicely packaged in a hard case, as well as a soft pouch and a cloth to clean them? Everything you need to keep them safe and clean. If you want your own pair of glasses you can click HERE and receive your first pair free! I would recommend Firmoo glasses and sunglasses and heres a way to save money and try them out for yourself!

*I was not paid or compensated for this post. The opinions in this post are 100% mine and may vary from other opinions. I was provided for free a pair of glasses  for my review.
