ALEX Toys Free App Launch Preview and Toy Giveaway

In the last few months I have been trying to find new companies for toys for my son since he has out grown his baby toys and for my nephews since they will no longer be in day care. In my search I found a really great company named ALEX Toys that makes toys, art supplies and so much more. We will be having a review and giveaway for the Moms Leaving the Workforce event coming very soon.

I wanted to share with my readers a fun App for the iPhone or iTouch phones that will be released on Friday March 25th. You can download the App from the website alextoys.com on Friday the 25th. The app is for FREE, which is awesome! It is a fun game that focuses on emotions and building self confidence. I know for kids its hard to express their feeling sometimes. I think a game like this would even be a good conversation starter for your little ones. They also can learn about matching, colors and animals.

From ALEX Toys:

Friendship Bread Book Review

Friendship Bread
By Darien Gee
Sometimes a book comes along that stays in your thoughts for days or weeks after you've finished reading it. Darien Gee has written just that kind of a novel. Her story of loving friendships, family, and small town life is enchanting. At the heart of this story is something called Friendship Bread. Julia Evarts receives a gift of this bread and it amazingly changes her life. She is still grieving terribly over the death of her son, five years earlier. By the simple act of baking and sharing the bread with others, friendships are made and hearts are mended. The author also includes a recipe for baking a loaf of you own Friendship Bread. This book is warm, wise, and lovely. It brings back what reading a good book is all about. Pure pleasure.

You can buy this book for your own library at Barnes and Noble.

HIT Entertainment Pop Goes Thomas and Barney Mother Goose DVD Review and Giveaway

My son has loved trains for a while now. He can say Choo-Choo and points to the trains when we drive by them near out house. We bought him a Thomas the Train birthday cake for his 1st Birthday and he plays with the train that came on his cake all the time. He has a few pairs of Thomas the Train pjs and a train set is on my list of things I want to get him for his birthday later in the year. Barney on the other hand is something I thought I would not have him watch but I have learned what I like and what he likes are soooo not the same. I actually love him watching Barney. I have found being a mom all the stuff I thought "Oh when I have kids I wont do this or that" has quickly gone out the window lol. He really does get excited for Barney! A few months back we were watching a Barney show and the battery on my computer that we were watching the DVD on went out. OH that boy was so upset! He cried and cried until I got it started in the DVD player and TV. It was so cute to see him cheer right up and dance around as Barney sang. I enjoy that Barney is teaching him and having fun. He really likes that there are real children in the shows too. He points to them and smiles.

Watching Thomas with his Thomas Pjs and toy.

The Pop Goes Thomas DVD is full of valuable lessons that Thomas and his friends learn. They learn about responsibility and trying to do too much in one day. Definitely one I could learn from too! I liked the episode about Sir Topham Hat's mother comes to visit the trains and how she teaches Thomas that just because she is older doesn't not mean she won't like excitement and fun. I really love how Thomas the Train teaches children lessons about life in a fun way. I like all the different personalities of the trains just like how all of us are so unique.

Clapping for Thomas the Train.

Coloring in his Barney coloring book that came with the DVD

Barney Mother Goose Collection DVD includes a DVD, a music CD and a coloring book. I really enjoyed how classic stories I know from when I was little were incorporated into Barney's world of characters. I sang along and clapped with my little guy as we watched it. I was sitting on the floor with him and he climbed into my lap and we watched together. It was very sweet! The excitement and dancing of Barney is what my son likes the most. He loves to dance! I know this DVD will be watched over and over. I put it on while I had some house cleaning to do and he did not even notice I was busy. He just danced and watched.

He had to sit on his jet ski while he watched Barney.

HIT Entertainment produces Thomas the Train and Barney as well as many more fun characters like Bob the Builder and Angelina Ballerina. You can check out their website for fun games and videos. Target and Walmart carry the DVDs to buy and you also have a chance to win them on this blog!

Walmart Clearance Pajamas and A Not So Happy Superman

Only $3 for Thomas Jammies!

On Thursday we went to Walmart just to get out of the house. It has been raining and so gloomy. I browsed through the Clearance section and found so many cute pajamas at a really cheap price. In November we bought all of our winter clothes and pjs and my son wore a size 12 months. Since then he has definitely gotten taller and his pajamas do not fit. I thought I would not find any thicker pjs since the spring clothing is now out but I was lucky. I found the cutest Thomas the Train pjs for $3.00!! I was so excited because my little guy loves Thomas! I also found a pair for only $1, they had snow flakes in the design since I am sure they were from the holiday season but for $1 I bought them.
One of the coolest finds were the Superman and Batman footed pjs for only $3 each. I was so jazzed that I found them. My husband has been wanting to get him super hero jammies but we could not find any on his size at a reasonable price. These were definitely a good find. He looks so cute in them and runs around the house so happy. I think he knows hes a super hero!
He would not let me take them off to go to the grocery store so I just let him wear it with his coat on over them. A few noticed him and were saying "Hello Batman!" My son loved the attention and smiles and waved to the kids. He loves other kids and yells "BaBe" when he sees them. It was really cute and fun to see him soak up all the attention while we out.
Today he is sick and has a little bit of a cough. He is wearing his Superman jammies and is a not so happy Superman. He looks so miserable being sick but smiles when he points to his pjs. I know he will get better soon and go back to the happy Superman he was last night.

Before Superman had his cold!

We also found a Toy Story 3 tshirt for $1 and a few plain tshirts. There were Tinkerbell and Dora the explorer for little girls too.
If your in Walmart anytime soon be sure to check out the clearance section and even scan a few items to see if they are cheaper. The items that were a dollar were not marked that cheap so you never know with clearance items!

Larry Gets Lost in Seattle and Seattle ABC Book Review and Giveaway

We love books in our family. I come from a long line of readers, I think you can call it a family trait! We love living in the Seattle area and when we got these books about Seattle we were ecstatic! Larry gets Lost in Seattle and Seattle ABC are written by John Skewes and Robert Schwartz both live in Washington, John in Seattle and Robert in Edmonds. Sasquatch Books publishes the Larry gets Lost books and  Larry also gets lost in other cities too.Larry Gets Lost in Seattle is about Pete and his dog Larry. They take a trip to Seattle, they start by taking the Washington state ferry, get into Seattle and hit every landmark on the way. There are so many great things to see like the Pike Place Market (where they famously throw fish), the Space Needle, the Seattle Art Museum and much more! While looking for Pete, Larry enjoys all of the great scenery Seattle has to offer and the book gives you little tidbits for each landmark. A fun read for sure!

Seattle ABC is another great book about the great city of Seattle. Again Larry and Pete are cruising around the city this time looking for all of the letters in the alphabet while exploring at the same time. They go from the Seattle Aquarium for A to the Woodland Park Zoo for Z and see the Orcas, Houseboats and Monorail on the way. These books were great not only for the stories but were also a learning tool for my 4 year old. It taught him about this great city we live in. I also got a kick out of knowing that this was "our" city they were talking about. We go to Seattle quite often and forget about all of the history it has to offer.
We tend to forget that Seattle has been a round for such and long time and really does have a lot to offer. My son was so excited when we took a recent trip to the Pike Place Market and he knew that Larry (the dog) had also been there! Seattle ABC and Larry Gets Lost in Seattle are great books and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Even if you don't live in Seattle you would enjoy reading these books to your children, it give them the knowledge of other cities out there in the world and knowledge is power!
