HP launches eSmiles for Ronald McDonald Houses

Today, HP launched eSmiles, a project that will build financial and emotional support through HP’s ePrint technology for children and their families staying at five participating Ronald McDonald Houses in the U.S. For every well wish or “eSmile” sent, HP will donate $1 and is committed to help raise $10,000 for each House.

Through pilot programs around the world, the HP eSmiles program has already raised over $120,000 for participating Ronald McDonald Houses in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the Netherlands. The program will help drive further awareness and support for participating Ronald McDonald Houses – globally and in their local communities.

The Ronald McDonald Houses that will participate in the U.S. launch are San Diego, Orange County, Atlanta, Chicago, and New York City. HP has donated a Photosmart 7510 e-All-in-One to each House, which allows the families to receive eSmiles from around the world. Each participating House will have its own customized ePrint address, allowing you to select exactly where you want to send your eSmile.

How it Works:
HP ePrint technology enables people to print on the go by securely sending photos and documents directly from a mobile device to a printer’s unique email address – from virtually anywhere. Each participating Ronald McDonald House has its own HP ePrint enabled printer with customized ePrint address, allowing you to send an eSmile to a Ronald McDonald House down the street or around the globe.

Ways to Participate:
To find out more about the program, become part of the global community and to see the donation updates, visit hpesmiles.com and find a participating house near you!

Help Support the Sacramento Children's Museum

As a kid my parents took us to many fun places. I can remember a trip to the Seattle children's museum.  In school we had great field trips to museums and historical sites. These memories are the types of things I appreciated more than any toys or treats we were given. Children need to explore, see and do to learn!
You can see what is in the museum by viewing some of the pictures taken from the museum preview:
Sacramento Moms Like Me Museum Day

Places like the Sacramento Childrens Museum is one of those spots kids love to go. We were invited to go to a preview of the museum but do to car issues we did not make it. I saw the pictures of the exciting time everyone had and it looks awesome. There are water table areas, art areas, a baby area, a tree tunnel and so much more!

To keep places like the Sacramento Children's Museum open it takes people donating to make great programs available. Even a group of people like a Mommy group or co workers can give money as one to be a Founding Member. The museum will be opening on  August 25th so there is still time to donate to be a Founding Member. There are many levels of giving you can click here to see them.

There are also Volunteer Opportunities as a way to give to the Museum as well.

Recently we sent a postcard to Leo the Museum mascot and he wrote us back! You can write to him at:

We Attended the Every Little Bottom Huggies Diaper Drive in Seattle

On Sunday July 24th Nana and I took my sons to the Huggies "Stuff the Bus" 2011 Kick off in West Seattle. Huggies Every Little Bottom promotion teams up to have diaper drives in local areas and we were lucky enough to have one in the Seattle area. Sunday the 24th of July in West Seattle we were able to attend the "Stuff the Bus"event and donate diapers for babies and toddlers in need.

Stuff the Bus in Seattle

I had never attended an event for Huggies before and I have to say that it was really well put together. The volunteers were all so enthusiastic and ready to help unload any donation that you brought. The coolest thing to JJ was that he got to climb up in the bus and honk the horn after making our donation! It is reported that 62 Diaper Drives took place all over King County to support "Stuff the Bus" WOW pretty cool.

We really enjoyed seeing everyone in action and knowing that the Seattle Area has been so involved in this has really made me proud to be a part of this community.

There is always a need for Diapers for Little Bottoms in need so please join us in donating to Huggies. You can see if there is a diaper drive near you to attend here. You can donate your Enjoy the Rides Reward points to help purchase diapers for the cause. You can also start your own Diaper Drive in your local area.

Volunteer Opp from Stonyfield for Music Concerts

I received an email today from Stonyfield Yogurt that I wanted to share with everyone. These volunteer opportunities are from August through October all over the USA. Here is what the email said:

Love music — and the planet?
ReverbYou could get a Reverb volunteer spot on one of the Maroon 5 / Train or Honda Civic concert tours.  Our partner Reverb works with the music industry to reduce tours' environmental impact, and volunteers help run greening programs on each tour.

The concert tours run from August into October.  A few lucky Stonyfield fans will be chosen to help out at shows across the country, so visit Reverb to find the closest show and try your luck.  Volunteers receive a t-shirt and show pass but most importantly, the amazing experience of helping out at a great concert event.
