Flowers and A Movie

It is a cold and rainy day, and I have had quite enough of it. We are indeed in "June Gloom" as my mailman said a few minutes ago.
Fortunately I have a few ideas on how to cope with our gray skies. I am going to go get myself a big bouquet of pretty flowers. I have said before that I love flowers, and nothing makes me so happy as the site of them on my desk or table. You can be frugal when buying flowers if you look around for inexpensive places to get them.
I'm also going to the movies this afternoon to see "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" at one of my favorite little art house theaters. Matinee prices, of course!
Hope you are all having a great day!

My 5 year old is already thinking about Halloween costumes

The other day my girlfriend text me to tell me that she was going through boxes and found a bunch of past Halloween costumes from her kids and wanted to know if I wanted any of them. My first thought was Halloween? That seemed so far away, but really it is not. My son is already asking to look at costumes on the computer, he tells me to Google them!! People (mostly kids) start thinking about Halloween and costumes months in advance. It sparked me to get it in gear and start searching for Halloween Costumes for my children. She told me she had a lot of 12 month and 2-3T costumes which is great for my 6 month old and my almost 2 year old but what about my 5 year old? She has a daughter who is 8 year old and like most girls has a lot of princess and fairy costumes, which would be great if my 5 year old was a girl but he isn't so we will need a new Halloween costume for him this year.

When it comes to Kids Halloween Costumes it seems there is always a trend for the year. Like a certain Superhero or Character that you see everywhere and sometimes is hard to find. The great thing about ordering online is that you don't have to go from store to store to try to track down a certain costume. You can search the site and see exactly what they have and what sizes are available. Another luxury about shopping for a costume on line is sometimes you can find a theme for your family. You can find your kids costume the browse the Adult Halloween Costumes to find something similar. Last year my husband and two small sons were all Ninjas!! It was awesome.

We Don't Have Blue Skies But We Have Blue Trees

Today it is grey, rainy, and chilly. A typical Seattle almost summer day. But over the weekend I saw these crazy looking blue trees in downtown Seattle. I have yet to find out who did this and why.
Is this someone's idea of art?

My daughter Megan and I felt like we were walking in a blue forest, and it was pretty cool. Seattle is definitely a city of surprises, and strange art.
I feel lucky to call it home.

Brave in Theaters June 22nd

I am really looking forward to the movie BRAVE coming to theaters. I want to see this one. It looks like a great film.

“Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her skills and resources – including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers – to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late, discovering the meaning of true bravery.

This movie has some cute "Scottiche" words that made me laugh from the previews.
Here are a few of the fun words I am sure your kids will get a giggle out of:

Unwanted stomachache or a bad case of the nerves
·        collywobbles = upset stomach; intestinal disturbances or a feeling of apprehension

Nonsense

JINGS CRIVENS HELP MA BOAB
Oh my!
Exclamation of bewilderment or exasperation

LASS
Girl

LAD
Boy

MICHTY ME
Wow! Holy cow!
An exclamation of surprise, shock or being overwhelmed

NUMPTY
Useless individual
