My family and I love sandwiches, and I bet I made thousands of them while my five kids were growing up. Whether for lunch or dinner, everyone enjoys a great tasting sandwich, and egg salad is definitely a favorite in my house.

Of course what you put inside the sandwich is important, but so is the bread. For me, the bread has to be fresh and delicious. That's why Oroweat® Bread has been a staple in my house for decades. I can count on Oroweat® to be great tasting, offer plenty of variety to choose from, and nutritious.

Now that I'm a grandmother of four fabulous grandchildren, I find I'm still making sandwiches for this next generation. We do have a couple of picky eaters, but luckily they all love sandwiches and it's a simple thing to make them whenever we get hungry.

For these egg salad sandwiches, I used the Oroweat® Honey Wheat Bread. It's actually a delicious bread that I also use for toast and French toast, and it has a tang of sweetness to it because of the honey in it.

Since what we eat becomes more and more important to me, I feel good about choosing a bread that meets what I feel is a standard of quality. And I like that there are so many kinds to choose from, each with the goodness and great taste that I've come to expect.

Oroweat® Whole Grains Sliced Breads and Oroweat® Sandwich Thin Rolls contain 2 to 5 grams of fiber per slice or thin, have zero grams of trans fat, and are cholesterol free. They also contain no high fructose corn syrup, something which we always try to avoid.

Making these egg salad sandwiches are super easy, and even the kids will eat them with the tomatoes and spinach. I always offer veggies whenever possible to my grandkids, and try to set a good example by eating them myself. And it often works!

Here's how I make my version of egg salad sandwiches. Feel free to add or subtract the chopped pickles if you like. This recipe will make 6 sandwiches.

Ingredients:

1 dozen hard boiled eggs, peeled
1 cup mayonnaise ( or add or subtract amount to your liking)
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
2 sweet pickles, diced
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tomatoes, sliced
spinach
12 slices Oroweat® Honey Wheat Bread

Mash the peeled eggs in a medium bowl. Add mayonnaise, mustard, pickles, and salt to eggs. Mix together well. Layer the tomatoes and spinach on one side of the bread.
Spread the egg salad on the other piece of bread and put together.

Sandwiches are a weekly dinner item in my house and each day I work I take a sandwich in my lunch. We definitely go through a lot of bread in my house. I buy a few brands of bread and change the brand depending on sales, coupons and the type of bread I am looking for. For sandwiches Oroweat® is a great option and they have many varieties. It's a great brand for pre-sliced bread to have in the cupboard.

When I make my son one of his lunchtime favorite's,  Pineapple, Ham and Cream Cheese Sandwich I like to use a whole grain and whole wheat bread. Oroweat® has recently reformulated their recipe making it tastier and healthier for you. *The information and coupons have been provided by Nature’s Harvest® so that I could try the product and share my thoughts and information about Nature’s Harvest® bread. The opinions expressed in this post are my own and do not reflect the opinions of Nature’s Harvest® bread.

Back to School is here in my house! We have had our first week of school with great success. Part of that success I believe is eating a healthy breakfast and a healthy lunch. Healthy food can fuel a learning mind to help kids stay focused. This is our first year packing school lunch since my son has just started kindergarten. I was so excited at the thought of making fun an tasty sandwiches to put in his lunchbox.

I wanted to make a sandwich that had many flavors in it to give it a meal between to delicious pieces of bread taste. I started with one of my sons favorite dips I make, spinach dip with cream cheese. My spinach dip has garlic and onions in it, I find it to be a tasty way to get my son to eat them without him realizing it.

Next I added sliced tomatoes, ham and thinly sliced cucumbers. I am using Nature’s Harvest®18 Grains & Seeds whole grain bread in my sandwich. My son likes the seeds on the sides of the bread, I like that it has 8 grams of whole grains per slice.

To celebrate Back to School season Nature’s Harvest® is hosting a Nature’s Harvest® Sandwich Art Photo Contest from August 24th to September 6th parents can visit the Nature’s Harvest® Facebook Page to submit a photo of their sandwich art creations, using Nature’s Harvest® bread, for the chance to win fun prizes!  One grand prize winner will receive a “kitchen crash” from Celebrity Chef Kelsey Nixon, where she’ll cook sandwich-centric meals and provide tips to the winner’s family!

Nature’s Harvest® bread is available to consumers nationwide and come in delicious varieties including:
o   100% Stone Ground Whole Wheat Bread
o   Honey Wheat Made with Whole Grain Bread
o   Butter Top Made With Whole Grain White Bread
o   Butter Top Made with Whole Grain Wheat Bread

Each variety of Nature’s Harvest® Bread is baked with at least 8 grams of whole grains per serving which will put them well on their way to consuming 32-40 grams per day which is recommended by U.S. Dietary Guidelines.

My son added his own creation of a sandwich with the ingredients I was using. He said it was his turn to be a sandwich creator! He made a sandwich using Nature’s Harvest® bread covered in cream cheese with ham and sliced grapes in it. It was actually very tasty! So proud of my little chef.

This contest is a fun way to get your kids involved with the idea of healthy eating by letting them help you create sandwich art for their school lunch. What are your ideas for a creative and tasty sandwich?

California Style Turkey Leftover Sandwich with Oroweat Organic Bread and Giveaway

*The coupons for free product, information, and gift card have been provided by Oroweat® so that I could try the product and share my thoughts and information about Oroweat® Organic bread. The opinions expressed in this post are my own and do not reflect the opinions of Oroweat®

Around the time Thanksgiving is coming near I am delighted with the thought of turkey dinner with all the tradition side dishes. Even more exciting is the left overs we get to eat for about a week. We LOVE to make sandwiches in my house. Its simple to put together and can be eaten anywhere.

I have been making more attempts to have organic foods in my life. Fruits and veggies are where most people look first as did I. Now I have been looking for foods we buy all the time and almost consume daily. Bread is on the top of my grocery list weekly, we eat a lot of it. I enjoy bread with seeds, nuts and other grains added. It makes for an excellent base for any sandwich.

This year we decided to get Oroweat Organic Bread for our Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches. OH MY was it good!! The grains and seeds in the bread added its own texture to the sandwich that was great plus 9 grams of whole grains per slice. The bread by itself was a tasty snack. I toasted the bread first to give the bread a stiffer base for the sandwich.

Living in Northern California we luckily have tons of fresh fruits and veggies to buy all year long, I like to add avocado and spinach making our sandwich what I call California Style.

Recipe for California Style Turkey Leftover Sandwich:

2 Slices of Organic Oroweat Bread
Jalapeno Cheese Slices
Turkey
Cranberry Sauce
Stuffing
Avacado
Spinach

Assemble as you like and cut in half for eating. Enjoy!
