Practically Perfect! MARY POPPINS RETURNS Trailer #MaryPoppinsReturns

Post by: Laura

I seriously screamed when I saw the trailer for the new Mary Poppins Returns movie!! I grew up watching the original movie and it is a part of my childhood. I have watched it hundreds of times and still as an adult watch it. I make my son watch it with me and do the dancing with the songs. He may have rolled his eyes a few times at me while we do it too! I fondly remember my siblings and I dancing and singing along with the movie too, it fills with my heart with joy. In elementary school we even had our school concert singing all the songs from the movie! Mary Poppins is a part of who I am!!!

:

In the sequel, which arrives in theaters this Christmas, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives. MARY POPPINS RETURNS stars Emily Blunt as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure; Lin-Manuel Miranda as her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London; Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; and Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy. The film also introduces three new Banks’ children played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and newcomer Joel Dawson. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.

Camp Blockbuster Program Review and Giveaway 3 Winners!

Blockbuster has been a video store my husband and I have loved going to since we have been married. We love seeing what new movies come out and rewatching favorites. When a few of our local stores closed we were so sad! We wanted our son to have the chance to be in awe of a movie store experience and not just get one out of a machine. Machines can be convenience yes in a hurry but being able to pick up the movie and turn it over to read the back of it is fun for us. My son LOVES to be able to go to the kids section of our local Blockbuster and pick a movie he sees that he likes. We even have cool bean bags in the kids section at our Blockbuster.

We have a monthly Movie Pass to Blockbuster since we love to watch movies. It saves us a ton of money to be able to rent as many as we want in a month for one low fee. With the Movie Pass we only get to rent one at a time. Sometimes this means picking between our movie or one for our son.

After learning about the Camp Blockbuster Kids Movie Pass we were happy to learn he can  have his own pass!

Blockbuster Kids Pass

Just $4.99* per month
Unlimited in-store rentals of all 99¢ Kids & Family movies and games
1 rental at a time
No due dates for rentals on your pass
Also available in 1-month, 6-month and 1-year gift cards.
Visit a Store

My son was so excited about his cool new backpack and movie pass. I asked him if I could see it and he held it up and said "Cheese" lol

Camp Blockbuster is offering families a new and creative form of entertainment as  kids make their way back to school and gear up for the holidays. The Camp Blockbuster Kids Pass is for use in-store and allows for 1 movie rental at a time from the kids section (valued at $.99) at a monthly charge of $4.99 – it’s a great convenience – you never have to worry about late fees. This new Kids Pass offering is also available in 1 month, 6 month and 1 year gift cards making for the PERFECT holiday stocking stuffer or a simple way to bring cheer to kids year around!

I think the pass would be a great way to save money on kids entertainment. With the holidays coming the Kids Pass will be perfect for the classic Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas movies. I know of a few we plan to rent like Charlie Brown, Shrek Halloween and Polar Express! I love to be able to snuggle up with my son and watch a movie at night. When its cold and rainy out this fall and winter we can rent something like Veggie Tales or Sesame Street to have fun while learning indoors.

The first movie we watched is Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs while eating Angry Bird Fruit Gummies. I had a blast hanging out with my son watching a movie.

My son loves to "read" the movie inserts. He wore his Camp Blockbuster stickers all day and put them on his workbook.

Enter to Win a Camp Blockbuster Kids Back Pack Prize

Camp Blockbuster Back Pack Prize *3 Winners*

-Camp Blockbuster Kids Pass branded backpacks filled with the following items to share with your readers:

I have loved watching Peter Pan since I was a kid. My sister and I would watch it with our little brother all the time. Its a magical story that I am happy to see coming to Blu-ray. I have a DVD copy that I watch with my son but I would love to have the Blu-ray. To me Blu-ray movies really are better, so clear and crisp.

Join mischievous Peter Pan, the young boy who refuses to grow up, his hot-tempered pixie pal, Tinker Bell and the Darling children as they soar away to the mysterious Never-Never land where childhood lasts forever in this magical, musical adventure!

Peter Pan: Diamond Edition will be available for a limited time on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy!

Simple Fun, Movies and Themed Food

I love watching movies! I often rent ones people might pass up and am delightfully surprised by them. On Friday and Saturdays nights I really like to try to make dinner fit in a theme of the movie. It can be hard most times but last night was perfect!

I found a cute somewhat political mixed with romantic comedy called Salmon Fishing in Yemen with Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt. I served Gorton's Grilled Salmon and purple potatoes. It was fun for me to have the meal and movie go together!

When the movie Midnight in Paris first was released on DVD we ate french bread and eclairs while we watched.

Do you ever try to have a movie and dinner theme? If so what movie did you watch with what food?

Date Night Friday Movies at Home

I love watching movies at home. I enjoy the hour and a half or so of story telling. I like to get lost in the movie and try to just be in the moment. Its a time for my husband and I to have a mini date night. We generally agree on movies making it fun to go back and forth between ones I pick and ones he picks.

A few we have watched that were interesting have been:

Jeff Who Lives at Home - Jason Segel, Ed Helms, Susan Sarandon- This was funny about siblings and accepting each other as we are

A Thousand Words - Eddie Murphy - This is a sweet movie about forgiveness and love

21 Jump Street - Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill - This was super funny! I had no clue what to expect since I had not seen any previews. It was silly but good silly. Even a moment with Johnny Depp in it.

Journey 2 - Dwayne Johnson "the rock" - Loved this movie. Very colorful and fun.

A few movies I was disappointed in:

Sherlock Holmes 2
John Carter

What movies have you rented lately?

Brave in Theaters June 22nd

I am really looking forward to the movie BRAVE coming to theaters. I want to see this one. It looks like a great film.

“Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her skills and resources – including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers – to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late, discovering the meaning of true bravery.

"Like" BRAVE on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/PixarBrave

BRAVE arrives in theaters everywhere on June 22nd!

This movie has some cute "Scottiche" words that made me laugh from the previews.
Here are a few of the fun words I am sure your kids will get a giggle out of:

BUNCH OF GALOOTS
Many fools
·        galoot = clumsy, oafish person

DREADFUL COLLYWOBBLES
Unwanted stomachache or a bad case of the nerves
·        collywobbles = upset stomach; intestinal disturbances or a feeling of apprehension

Nonsense

JINGS CRIVENS HELP MA BOAB
Oh my!
Exclamation of bewilderment or exasperation

LASS
Girl

LAD
Boy

MICHTY ME
Wow! Holy cow!
An exclamation of surprise, shock or being overwhelmed

NUMPTY
Useless individual

We have been in a Movie Craze

For the last month or so I have been on a movie craze. I have been watching tons of them. I was wondering if anyone else had seen a few of them.

These are all grown up rated movies not for kids! :) My hubby and I have been making movies our date night every Friday and Saturday at home after we put our son to sleep. Its been super fun! I pop some popcorn and have a little bit of candy, for realistic theater feeling of course!

Here are a few we have watched. There have been some duds and ones so scary I won't share lol.

Enter Nowhere - a mystery film with Scott Eastwood, Clint Eastwoods son

Invisible Sign with Jessica Alba

Extremely Loud Incredibly Close - this make you cry like a baby! with Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock

Melancholia with Kristen Dunst and Kiefer Sutherland - about the end of earth (nudity in this one, just to let you know upfront)

One Day with Anne Hathaway, I cried a lot with this one too

Redemption Road - Michael Clarke Duncan and Luke Perry. About two men needed closure to a tragedy.

And two I did not like at all!

Tinker Tailor Solider Spy
My Week with Marilyn

Do you recommend any grown up movies for us to watch next?

Moms Love Movies and WB Loves Moms! DVD Giveaway

I love movies! I always have well before I was a Mom. My own Mom has even said she has not really seen a whole movie since someone always needed something or there was a task to be done while we all kicked back and enjoyed a movie. I always chuckled about it as a teenager and young adult as if she was exaggerating. Well now that I am a Mom oh my I know she was so right about that one!

There has been many movies we had to re-rent or rewind (do they still call it rewind? lol) due to me having to do something during a movie. This year to celebrate Mother's Day the WB has decided to giveaway a 4 pack of movies to one lucky reader. Maybe now that you have these classic movies on DVD and Blu-Ray there will be hope to be able to see the whole thing!

The Bodyguard is a good movie! I remember watching this as a teenager. We have a family joke about Kevin Costner, we refer to him as Uncle Kevin although there is no relation what so ever, long story thats funny and we will share it one of these times. Its bitter sweet to watch it since Whitney Houston's passing. But still a great story.

I liked New Year's Eve when my husband and I watched it together. I love the type of movies that have a bunch of characters all living life among each other without knowing how they effect one another and how it all unfolds at the end. This is a cute one. One of my favorite parts is how there are two couples at one hospital trying to have their baby be the one born first for the New Year.

I have not watched Joyful Noise but it is now on my list of movies to watch since I love Queen Latifah movies.

I have never heard of Don Juan De Marco, but since Johnny Depp is in it I have to add this one too on my movies to watch list.
