A Midday Train to Oakland & Plank Restaurant Jack London Square #Amtrak #JackLondonSquare #Travel

My teenager and I took a midday train to Oakland. It was a first for us both riding Amtrak and an adventure for sure! We started in Roseville; we took an Amtrak bus from Roseville to the Sacramento station. We easily found the correct platform to board our train to Oakland.

Not only did we avoid the traffic and stress of the Sacramento to the Bay commute we experienced a new perspective on the way there. We went below spots we previously were on top of, saw behind the Chocolate factory that we have seen hundreds of times, side by side to the ocean at ground level in some places seeing local fishermen and wildlife. Heck even some of the graffiti was amazing!

We watched people along the way get on and off at their stops. Some looked like college students from Davis and Berkeley, other looked like commuters to work and lots of people looked like they were also on an adventure. We were headed to a wedding.

If you are trying to get to San Francisco city itself, you will not get to see Jack London Station in Oakland. You would be getting off at a few stops before and taking the Amtrak Bus to the city. We however needed to be in Oakland. Jack London Square was our first place to visit after getting off the train, after taking our luggage to the hotel of course. I try to teach my teenager to be travel savvy like don't wear your flashy jewelry, don't put on headphones and keep your face in your phone (plus you will miss the cool stuff if you're not fully paying attention to the experience) and to never put your luggage in the trunk the wander off to explore. These to me are simple ways to stay situational aware and still enjoy your time. But if you do need to leave luggage in the car in any big city its best to park in a paid parking garage.

One of the days we were in Oakland there happen to be a Farmers Market at Jack London Square located across the way from the train station. I was delighted since I love Farmers Markets! We also discovered while walking the market many of the great restaurants located in Jack London Square. Sadly, one of the restaurants we visited is now closed so I won't include that info BUT thankfully a very vibrate open air seating place Plank is still there and thriving.

While waiting for our train that would not arrive for a few hours we decided to sit down and enjoy brunch at Plank. My son being the teenager he is ordered Mac N Cheese with Streak.

I opted for a sweeter option by ordering the Churro Waffles with strawberries and chocolate with a pink lemonade to drink.

We had delicious food, it was a beautiful day, and our server did not make us feel rushed. It was wonderful! We sat there with our luggage and enjoyed watching sports on the big screen TVs outside. I did notice on the dessert menu that they had a NEW lemon-flavored dessert. I under no circumstances cannot try something lemon flavored that I have not tried before and being in vacation I splurged. It was WELL worth the money. Lemon Tres Leches Cake was soooooo good! Even topped with blackberries it was divine!

After hanging out at Plank we decide to check out the arcade a bit then head back to Jack London train station. It is so architecturally beautiful inside. The high ceilings, shiny floors and huge windows filled the space with light. It was so clean inside as well as super clean bathrooms.

I found some stowaways in my backpack, it was a Monday so hopefully Garfield did not mind being on vacation.

The Jack London station had maps to show you how the different train lines can take you all over California. The rails of adventure definitely are calling to my heart to travel by train more.

The staff was super friendly and the space calm and inviting. We were able to wait inside comfortably for our train since they had info boards and announcements about arriving and departing trains. Also, a vending machine for grabbing a water before boarding was helpful.

For our train ride back, we did not need to take a bus. This train took us all the way back to Roseville where our epic journey had begun. I oddly did not take as many pictures while on the train than I thought I had; I attribute that to being caught up in enjoying the scenery. I had to comment when I saw cows, make sure my teenager looked at the cows and wowed at how close to the oceans edge we were traveling. It was an easy was to travel from the Sacramento area to Oakland and it stopped at other parts of the Bay Area. If you are looking for a new way to see the places you have before I say, take a train you will be delighted! I look forward to the next epic train adventure my teenager and I go on.

Eternal Sensations Candle and Soap Giveaway #smallbusiness #shoplocal #Sacramento

Last year taught me the importance of self care. In the midst of stay at home orders, the fear of the unknown and unrest in the world had me stressed beyond words. Taking the time to sit for a meditative moment with a candle lit or a relaxing bath with scented soaps saved my mental well being. I am very selective with the products I use on my body and in the environment around me. When my dear sweet friend Joanna told me of her new candle and soap business Eternal Sensations that she started with her husband was all about self care I needed to know more about it.

The special touch to Eternal Sensations candles are the wooden wicks. These create a soothing wood crackle sound as you burn them. They are made of natural wood and give a more clean burn than traditional candles. The wax that makes up the candles is a bees wax coco creme composed of bees wax, coconut, soy and palm oils. The burn time on the candles are 35-40 hours for 6.5 oz and 40-60 hours on 12 oz.

Lavender Lady is my favorite candle made by Eternal Sensations. I always find lavender soothing. This candle also has hints of chamomile and eucalyptus that make the scent special. This candle would be perfect for an Easter gift or Mother's Day gift. This candle is available for the introductory price of $11.50 for 6oz.

The Body Bar soaps by Eternal Sensations have a unique blend of donkey milk, goat milk, shea butter, African shea butter with jojoba oil, coconut oil, hemp oil and almond oil. This unique blend gives the body bars soap a nice bubbly moisturizing lather.

The Pacific Coast Body Bar has the scent of ocean air, healing properties of eucalyptus blended with sea salt and donkey milk. This bar would be the perfect gift for someone who is missing the beach right now. This Body Bar is available for the introductory price of $5.

The Exfoliating Bars made by Eternal Sensations have an aloe base with goat or coconut milk giving you a crisp clean feeling. I LOVE products that include honey, like the OH Honey & Oats Scrub bar. The scent of this soap is like roasted almonds. A natural scrub bar is a good addition to your beauty regimen. I like to use one on my feet after a long day at work.

One of my favorite scrub bars made by Eternal Sensations is the On the Grind Coffee Scrub Bar. The scent is like hot coco and has coffee grinds to exfoliate the skin. This bar is a perfect bar for your morning shower! This Body Scrub Bar is available for the introductory price of $6.

Meet Joanna! She is the brains and beauty behind the company Eternal Sensations. Her products are handmade and based in Sacramento CA. Here is the introduction about her and her company from her website:

"Hiya Guys & Dolls! Since I can remember, I have always been fascinated with Fashion, Photography, Soaps & Candles. So it's only fitting that my Passion For Fashion, wasn't the only passion overflowing in my life in 2020! Since getting MARRIED to the Love of my life last October, I have decided that enough is enough! I don't know about you guys, but I have an Double EYE BROW alarming amount of... well sorry to say, but bad body products and half used chalk smelling candles under my sink!! I had to really have a heart to heart with myself and dump the overpriced goodies. So with the help of my Amazing Husband, we started this amazing journey that I'm so glad we get to go on together. We at Eternal Sensations are committed to giving you a Quality, Natural product that will not only be good for your outer skin, but make your soul shine & crackle just like our Wood Wick Candles."

FANtastic Day at Sacramento Fandemic Tour #hosted #fandemictour #Sacramento

*We were hosted at the event in exchange tickets. My opinions in this post are my own. #hosted #fandemictour

We had such a FANtastic time at the first ever Sacramento Fandemic Tour! Cheesy to say I know but it is true. We attended on a Sunday, which was the last day, not as many cosplayers and other things going on but I took my 8 year old and my 68 year old mother in law so it was perfect for them. We saw many of our favorite characters like these awesome Storm Troopers and even R2D2 rolling around.

Demanding the prices we wanted to pay! LOL
My son has been to a few more conventions than I have and he knew exactly how to have fun. He dressed up as one of his favorite characters and interacted with the vendors and other cosplayers. We saw so many great items for sale at the booths. From comics, collectible toys, Funko Pops (our favorite to collect) and even comic book themed shoes. The unique items you will find is part of the adventure of checking out all the booths.

One of the best parts of Fandemic Tour was meeting legendary artists that have brought to life so many loved characters. My son is a writer and illustrator of his own comic book series and these people are inspiration for him. I love being able to encourage his creativity and have him see art can be a profession if he chooses to do so.

This photo right here was so awesome for me!!! My husband and son have met Phil Ortiz from The Simpsons and have some signed art from him that is on the wall of our living room. I have been a bit envious that I had not met him. On Sunday I had the opportunity and we shared a personal conversation of just he and I for about 15 minutes discussing my admiration for his work, things about my personal story of love for The Simpsons and where will he be next so we can get a family portrait done where he makes us "Simpson" style. He was even so sweet to ask as to why I was limping, I am suffering with health issues currently and his concern was genuine, such a nice guy!

I had planned on staying all day and waiting in line for some photo ops with my favorite The Walking Dead actors but had to leave after only being there for couple hours. My health issues were bothering me so much I could no longer walk around definitely could not stand in long lines waiting for photos. It was sad to have to leave early but we certainly had an amazing time while we were there. We did see Chandler Riggs aka Carl Grimes at his booth. He was texting on his phone and as we walked by my son yelled "Coral!" we all started cracking up and Chandler did look up for a second. The funniest part is my son has never seen The Walking Dead but he constantly hears my husband and I discussing it and apparently even picked up on the "Coral" jokes we make.

Krypto the Superdog is the next Funko POP my son has on his must have list.

My son had been saving his allowance for a few months preparing for Fandemic Tour shopping. He has a huge collection of Funko Pops and knew of a few he wanted to add to his collection while we were there. Buying an item for a collection at a convention is awesome because you will have the memories of the event attached to the item, a story of "this one I got at Fandemic Tour very first show in Sacramento". He purchased Jetsons Astro Dog and Baby Hercules. He was smiling ear to ear as we left the show with his new items to add to the shelf in his room.

If you missed the Sacramento Fandemic Tour don't fret they will be heading to Houston on September 14, 15 and 16 2018.

You can check out the photos and videos of the fun had at the #Sacramento event and the journey to Houston on Fandemic Tour Instagram and Twitter. Use hashtag #FandemicTour to find the best stuff.

Giveaway for Fandemic Tour Tickets Sunday Family Fun Day #ad #FandemicTour #Sacramento

June 22-24 2018 the Fandemic Tour is coming to Sacramento at the Convention Center Downtown!!! We are HUGE Pop Culture fans in my home. We love Marvel, The Walking Dead, Simpsons, WWE, Comic books, oh so many cool things I cannot even list them all! When I heard about the new style of Comic / Pop Culture Convention coming to Sacramento I knew we had to be there! My heart was so happy when I read that they will be making Sunday a Family Fun Day.  My son will be taking part in the Cosplay contest for kids, he loves wearing costumes and I let him wear which ever one he wants any day of the week. We even have matching super hero capes that we wear to the grocery store! I plan on bringing my mother in law to celebrate her 68th birthday. I feel like Sunday is going to be the day an 8 year old and 68 year old can marvel in the geekiness of the pop culture world at the same time and bring us all closer together as a family.

I am a MEGA fan of The Walking Dead and am thrilled that so many of the cast will be attending Fandemic Tour. I literally am counting the days until I get to meet Norman Reedus aka Daryl Dixon!! I am trying to not fan girl freak out but that is hard to contain. JD Morgan aka Negan will also be there and I know hes a fictional character but I still have angst for Negan for what he did to Daryl LOL.

Fandemic Tour will offer attendees the opportunity to purchase autographs and photo opportunities with their favorite celebrity talent and artists.

You can also purchase Group Photos of various actors in one photo. The photo op offer of TWD Group Photo nearly made me faint at the thought of it since it includes Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Scott Wilson, Michael Rooker, Steven Yeun, and Chandler Riggs!! WOW!! For a bit less money if the group photo is too pricey there is the Duo Photo of TWD Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Also if you want a family photo with TWD Dixon Brothers there is the Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker photo op option as well. Buy these quickly as I am sure they will sell out. I told my husband to go through my collections to sell some of my fandom to purchase me the photo ops! It would be amazing and a never forget kind of moment to do this. There is a Guardians of the Galaxy group photo with Michael Rooker, Chris Sullivan, and Sean Gunn and the cast of Angel with Christian Kane, Clare Kramer, Charisma Carpenter, and James Marsters for purchase as well.

If you are a WWE fan the Bella Twins will also be attending on Sunday for autographs and photo ops. We attended a WWE show a few years back and saw them wrestle in person, so fun!

Award-winning actress, entertainment correspondent and pop culture authority, Clare Kramer, will moderate all programming on our Main Stage. Celebrity programming highlights for Fandemic Tour Comic Con’s debut in Sacramento include:
